Though on Christmas Eve I speak to them on the phone to let them know I've put cookies & milk out for Santa just as my children used to do. I always leave the plate with crumbs & empty milk glass out so that when they come late Christmas morning they can see that Santa had been to Grandma Ba's house, too. It's like getting that little bit of Christmas magic back when you have little ones who still believe.
I love reading books especially those about the Amish. As for our favorite tradition--it's Christmas Eve:

We go to candlelight service at church early evening, then order and pick up Chinese food on our way home, then we all watch the Grinch Who Stole Christmas (original version!!!) together, and then read the Christmas Lizard (it's an awesome story about what Christmas REALLY means). My boys at 18 and 13yo still insist on the same tradition....lol---it wouldn't feel like Christmas without it! One of our favorite Christmas traditions has been putting up our Christmas nativity during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I have a very large Fontanini collection, and we all love to arrange and rearrange all of the shephers, wisemen, sheep, other animals, etc. The setting up of the nativity gets us in the mindset for why we celebrate the season... a very special blessing! (It was actually called a Santa Claus Castle.) We made it in school when I was in the 4th grade. My teacher had us draw numbers out of a box, mine was 13, and then she drew a number from another box and the number was 13. So I won the castle and I was able to take it home after the Christmas program. Once I married and had children we made a castle every year until the kids grew tired of it. I wish I had some pictures of one of our castles to show you what it looked like. The kids and I sure had fun making it!

I would love to win a copy of this book.
