The Goodbye Cafe' By Mariah Stewart

From Mariah Stewart, New York Times bestselling author of The Chesapeake Diaries series, comes the next book in her popular Hudson Sisters series, which follows a trio of reluctant sisters who set out to fulfill their father’s dying wish and discover themselves in the process in this “sweet reminder of the importance of family” (First for Women).

California girl Allie Hudson Monroe can’t wait for the day when the renovations on the Sugarhouse Theater are complete so she can finally collect the inheritance from her father and leave Pennsylvania. After all, her life and her fourteen-year-old daughter are in Los Angeles.

But Allie’s divorce left her tottering on the edge of bankruptcy, so to keep up on payments for her house and her daughter’s private school tuition, Allie packed up and flew out east. But fate has a curve-ball or two to toss in Allie’s direction—she just doesn’t know it yet.

She hadn’t anticipated how her life would change after reuniting with her estranged sister, Des, or meeting her previously unknown half-sister, Cara. And she’d certainly never expected to find small-town living charming. But the biggest surprise was that her long-forgotten artistry would save the day when the theater’s renovation fund dried up.

With opening day upon the sisters, Allie’s free to go. But for the first time in her life, she feels like the woman she was always meant to be. Will she return to the West Coast and resume her previous life, or will the love of “this amazing, endearing family of women” (Robyn Carr, #1 New York Times bestselling author) be enough to draw her back to the place where the Hudson roots grow so deep?

A Love Letter Life By Jeremy & Audrey Roloff

More than 2.3 million people watched as Jeremy and Audrey Roloff shared their vows and committed their lives to each other. Now for the first time, the former co-stars of TLC's hit show Little People, Big World share their imperfect, resilient, and inspiring love story.
As Jeremy and Audrey write, if you can fall into love, you can fall out. True love is something you choose to live out each day through your actions, decisions, and sacrifices. To find and still seek, now that is love. From the moment you meet your potential spouse, you can be intentional about shaping a beautiful love story, uniquely written for who God created you both to be. Whether you're single and searching, in a serious dating relationship, or desiring to love your spouse better, Jeremy and Audrey equip you to pursue an intentional, creative, and faithful love story by sharing theirs.
The journey to their wedding day was the culmination of a bumpy and complicated dating relationship. From health problems, to emotional walls, to being separated by one thousand miles, the couple faced daunting obstacles. But their unique approach to dating empowered them to write an uncommon love story and prepared them for married life. Because as beautiful as their wedding was, the Roloffs made a point to prepare more for their marriage than their wedding day.
Told through both Jeremy's and Audrey's voices, A Love Letter Life tells a passionate and persevering story of relatable struggles, hard-learned lessons, practical tips, and devout commitment. In these pages, they encourage you to stop settling for convenient relationships, offer perspective on male and female differences in dating, tackle tough topics like purity, give their nine rules for fighting well, suggest fun ideas for connection in a world of technology, and provide fresh advice on how to intentionally pursue a love story that never ends.

Samantha Chase is a New York Times and USA Today bestseller of contemporary romance. She released her debut novel in 2011 and currently has more than forty titles under her belt! When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook, wearing a tiara while playing with her sassy pug Maylene…oh, and spending time with her husband of 27 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

My Thoughts...

This is part of The Montgomery Brothers series. But I read it as a stand alone and I was not lost. I love Chase's writing style and she is the queen of romances.
You are going to love this series. I have to say make sure that you don't have any plans because you are not going to want to put this book down once you start reading it.
I am going to be reading this whole series now.

My Thoughts...

This is a slow read to start out about half way if you will stick with it. It picks up and you will be happy that you read it. While it was not my favorite book by Lewis it is still woth the read.
I gave this book 3.5 stars and I hope the next book is more my speed.

Jean is a scientist by training with a background in Marine Biology, Microbiology, and Immunology. She currently resides in New England and draws from her interests in history, science, the outdoors, and her family for writing inspiration.

Diana Gabaldon lured her into historical romance with Outlander (more like sucked her under and after reading most of the series, she consumed the Starz series)...and Julie Garwood swept her away to medieval Scotland. Both authors and their books were inspirations to Jean. She was awestruck by Scotland, history, and a bit of the mystical. Now out: two books in her historical romance (paranormal bent) trilogy (A Hundred Breaths, A Hundred Kisses).

The Shop on Peculiar Shop By Grimly Darkwood

When Peter comes to live with his aunt and uncle at the shop on Peculiar Hill, he has a lot to learn. What are bogeys and heeble-greebs and the other fierce creatures which live in the nearby Vale of Strange? Why is it so important to wear a hat and sturdy boots? And what is this stuff called Strangeness which comes bubbling out of the ground? When Peter discovers the dark secret which lurks at the heart of this place, he finds his efforts to make things better do not go according to plan. He sets out to make amends with the aid of his new friend, Amanda, but how can he know that requesting her help will prove to be such a very big mistake?

Grimly Darkwood was born in the year nineteen hundred and blinkety blonk, which was a very long time ago. In those days, things were very different from how they are today. Carts were more common than cars, mobile phones had not been invented, and if you were very lucky, the highlight of your day was to find a free plastic spaceman in a packet of corn flakes.

Grimly thought that the sights and sounds of such days were gone forever. He was therefore surprised when, while studying the night sky with his telescope, he began to observe life on a planet which had much in common with those distant days. That he could see this place so clearly was remarkable in itself. Normally, only the brilliant stars which provide such planets with light can be observed at such a distance. But Grimly found out that he could see the planet because it possessed a phenomenon called strangeness, of which he was soon to learn a great deal more.

The Shop on Peculiar Hill is the first of Grimly’s accounts of life in a part of that distant planet, a vicinity known as The Vale of Strange. He is determined that more such tales will follow, in spite of attacks from mysterious ‘intergalactic forces’ which, he says, are trying to sabotage his telescope and clog up his ball point pen.

Grimly rarely appears in public and his place at such events is often taken by someone called Simon Ounsley, another mysterious figure who has fulfilled numerous roles in life, among them co-editor and co-founder of a long running science fiction magazine. There are even rumours that Darkwood and Ounsley are one and the same person, though they both strenuously deny ‘these unfounded allegations’. Mr. Darkwood also wishes to deny that he is ‘a cantankerous old goat’.

Two great romances in one book. Now let me be honest. When I am reading  book by a fantastic author I don't want it to end. So this book is one of those books I hated to see come to an end. I love a good romance and you get two in this one book.
I gave this book 4 stars. I recommend it.

Girl in the Rearview Mirror By Kelsey Rae Dimberg

The young nanny for a prominent political family gets drawn into a web of deadly lies—including her own—in this stunning debut thriller with the menacing twists of Megan Abbott and the exquisite suspense of Laura Lippman.

They are Phoenix’s First Family: handsome Philip Martin, son of the sitting Senator, an ex-football player who carries himself with an easy grace and appears destined to step into his father’s seat when the time is right; his wife Marina, the stylish and elegant director of Phoenix’s fine arts museum; and their four-year-old daughter Amabel, beautiful and precocious and beloved.
Finn Hunt is working a dull office job to pay off her college debt when she meets Philip and charms Amabel. She eagerly agrees to nanny, thinking she’s lucked into the job of a lifetime. Though the glamour of the Martins’ lifestyle undeniably dazzles Finn, her real pleasure comes from being part of the family: sharing quick jokes with Philip in the kitchen before he leaves for work; staying late when Marina needs a last-minute sitter; and spending long days with Amabel, who is often treated more like a photo op than a child.
But behind every façade lurks a less attractive truth. When a young woman approaches Finn, claiming a connection with Philip and asking Finn to pass on a message, Finn becomes caught up in a web of deceit with the senate seat at its center. And Finn isn’t exactly innocent herself: she too has a background she has kept hidden, and under the hot Phoenix sun, everything is about to be laid bare.

My Thoughts...
This was slow starting out but when it got good it got really good. I did not like the ending at all. I must say the good parts were good parts. (Ha HA Like that). But I like Finn the detective that is what I like to call her. She had her nose in everything.
I will be looking for Dimberg's next book.

Living your way out of the Mess By Johnny Teague

Mom dropped me off at the swimming pool. The 9 foot section of the pool was separated from the 5 foot section by a concrete wall that lay just beneath the surface of the water. You couldn’t see it, but it was there. On this particular morning, I did what I always did. I crossed the wall, climbed the diving tower, and did a beautiful cannonball. Then it happened. I swallowed some water and began to panic. Literally, I began to drown. It wasn’t like you see on TV where people are yelling “I’m drowning, Help me!” My drowning was going to be a silent death. I did all I could to get above the water, to start swimming, but I couldn’t. I tried to get my head above the water, to get a breath, to get composed, but couldn’t. I tried to cry to the lifeguard for help, but nothing came out. I could not do anything to get his attention. It wasn’t his fault. To him, I just looked like a kid playfully bobbing underwater. To me, it was a violent fight for air, fighting to stay alive. After great effort, I surrendered to the fact that I was going to drown. I did the one last thing I knew to do. In my heart I prayed “Lord, Please help me”. I swung my arm out a last time. My fingers skimmed that 9 foot, under-the-surface wall. I reached again. My hand grabbed it. I lifted myself up, pulled above the surface gasping for air. I held on trembling, breathing deeply. Finally my lungs relaxed, I was saved. God heard my cry. He had provided that wall. “Living Your Way Out of the Mess” is a wall people can grab hold and find the God who loves them. This book deals with the struggles of hardship, hurts, defeat, depression, divorce, death, relationships, chaos, sin, and addiction to name a few. Real-life stories are shared of how people faced the same things you face, and how they made it through. This will give you courage to know that you can live through the trials you face.

Point Of View By Elisabeth Hasselback

Recognized from her roles on Survivor, The View, and FOX & Friends, celebrity Elisabeth Hasselbeck presents a deeply intimate journey of faith, told through the important moments in her life.

"Point of view," by definition, is a particular attitude or way of considering a matter. Through her nearly two decades of broadcasting, Elisabeth learned the necessity of extracting the point of view of the person being interviewed on a particular topic or subject or experience. Doing so allows you to see issues and truths through another's eyes. It requires a shift in perspective to see the story through their lens.
In this illuminating book, Elisabeth walks through the times--from her national celebrity days to her newest role as CBO (Chief Breakfast Officer)--where she saw something differently than how God wanted her to, and the path back to His point of view was sometimes rocky but always revealing. Sometimes God's intentions for her were clear, yet other times she encountered situations so uncomfortable and blurry that she could only ask for His wisdom.
In this book, Elisabeth welcomes you into the many different, and often divergent, points of view that she has witnessed and learned from along the way. It is a journey that brought her to the ultimate point of view that she discovered in the Word of God--that until she sees herself as He sees her, she is not seeing at all. As you read through the pages here, she invites you to make the same discovery for yourself.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck was formerly known to television audiences as a participant on the wildly popular second edition of “Survivor: The Australian Outback.” Since taking her coveted seat on “The View” in 2003 she has been the focus of major magazine covers and articles including USA Weekend, Curious Parents, People, TV Guide, Fitness, Glamour, Us Weekly, Life, Pregnancy and ePregnancy. She has filled in on the FOX News Channel's “Fox and Friends,” and has been a guest on “Hannity and Colmes,” “Larry King Live,” “The Martha Stewart Show,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Good Morning America. “

My Thoughts...

Sometimes you pick up a book and it's just what you need to read it that time. Well I call that an on time book. This is one of those on time books.
I devoured it and I plan to reread it again. This is a book that I will keep on my personal  book shelf.
Some self help books are just stories the author came up with, Hasselback gives you raw heartfelt advice and  her great Point of View.
This is a 5 star book and I HIGHLY recommend it.

ersonal encouragement and inspiration for finding your unique calling

"Am I making a difference?" "Can I accomplish meaningful things despite the mistakes I've made?" "How can I know God's purpose for me?"

As the true stories in Exceedingly demonstrate, whether famous or entirely unknown, we all struggle to find significance in our lives. But the truth is that each one of us has a special reason for being right here, right now--and we can discover exactly what that is.

Anita Agers-Brooks walks through simple yet powerful strategies, skills, and exercises to do just that. Through practical application and inspiration from people like the late country music star Troy Gentry, readers will identify and hone their natural traits, raw talents, and untapped abilities. Uncovering our purpose doesn't require big personalities, perfect lives, or an issue-free past. We only have to make the effort to learn to see ourselves as God does and fulfill the personal purpose we were made for.

Seekers who engage with Anita will find their quest leads to one amazing conclusion: if they unearth what they've been given and dare to believe, their Maker will do exceedingly, abundantly more with their lives than they've ever imagined.

Now that Thaddeus is gone, Hannah’s old friend Phillip is stepping up to be by her side. He has waited patiently for Hannah to realize just how much he cares for her. But when Thaddeus returns after two years, Hannah can’t deny the love she feels for him. Does the fact that Phillip has waited patiently for her all this time mean that she owes him something? Saving Meghan By D. J. Palmer

Saving Meghan is a riveting new thriller full of secrets and lies from author D.J. Palmer.

Can you love someone to death?
Some would say Becky Gerard is a devoted mother and would do anything for her only child. Others, including her husband Carl, claim she's obsessed and can't stop the vicious circle of finding a cure at her daughter's expense.
Fifteen-year-old Meghan has been in and out of hospitals with a plague of unexplained illnesses. But when the ailments take a sharp turn, clashing medical opinions begin to raise questions about the puzzling nature of Meghan’s illness. Doctors suspect Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a rare behavioral disorder where the primary caretaker seeks medical help for made-up symptoms of a child. Is this what's going on? Or is there something even more sinister at hand?
As the Gerards grow more and more suspicious of each other and their medical team, Becky must race against time to prove her daughter has a deadly disease. But first, she must confront her darkest fears and family secrets that threaten to not only upend her once-ordered life…but to destroy it.

Baby Teeth By Zoje Stage

MEET HANNA: Seven-year-old Hanna is a sweet-but-silent angel in the eyes of her adoring father Alex. He’s the only person who understands her. But her mother Suzette stands in her way, and she’ll try any trick she can think of to get rid of her. Ideally for good.
MEET SUZETTE: Suzette loves her daughter, but after years of expulsions and strained home schooling, her precarious health and sanity are weakening day by day. She’s also becoming increasingly frightened by Hanna’s little games, while her husband Alex remains blind to the failing family dynamics. Soon, Suzette starts to fear that maybe their supposedly innocent baby girl may have a truly sinister agenda.
A battle of wills between mother and daughter reveals the frailty and falsehood of familial bonds in award-winning playwright and filmmaker Zoje Stage’s tense novel of psychological suspense, Baby Teeth.

Her debut novel BABY TEETH, published in July 2018, was a USA Today bestseller, a People Magazine "Book of the Week", and voted by Barnes & Noble, Bloody Disgusting, and Goodreads as one of the best horror books of 2018. It was published in the UK under the title BAD APPLE, and will soon be available in more than a dozen countries. She lives in Pittsburgh, PA.

My Thoughts...

Oh don't even know what to say about this book. The evil seven year Hanna was just over the top. This was a first for me. I was rooting for the mom the whole time. I had to know if the mom was going to turn on that evil kid or not so I keep on reading.
I gave this book 3 stars, but based on the story you may want to give this one a try I have never read anything like it before.

The Memory House By Rachel Hauck

Embracing the future means remembering the past . . .
When Beck Holiday lost her father in the North Tower on 9/11, she also lost her memories of him. Eighteen years later, she’s a tough New York City cop burdened with a damaging secret, suspended for misconduct, and struggling to get her life in order. Meanwhile a mysterious letter arrives informing her she’s inherited a house along Florida’s northern coast, and what she discovers there will change her life forever. Matters of the heart only become more complicated when she runs into handsome Bruno Endicott, a driven sports agent who fondly recalls the connection they shared as teenagers. But Beck doesn’t remember that either.
Decades earlier, widow Everleigh Applegate lives a steady, uneventful life with her widowed mother after a tornado ripped through Waco, Texas, and destroyed her new, young married life. When she runs into old high school friend Don Callahan, she begins to yearn for change. Yet no matter how much she longs to love again, she is hindered by a secret she can never share.
Fifty years separate the women but through the power of love and miracle of faith, they each find healing in a beautiful Victorian known affectionately as The Memory House.

My Thoughts...

I have never read a book by Hauck that I did not LOVE. Are you tired of reading books with perfect, flawless characters? If you answered yes, then this book is for you. You have to be a very special author to write Time-slip books and do it well. Hauck does it like no other. Hauck gave us imperfect characters, that made me love them and relate to them. 2 Sets of couples that you are sure to fall in love with. 2 Stories that come together and make you sad to see it come to an end.
You must pick up a copy of this 5 star must read book. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I liked the message behind the story.
This should be a book read in classrooms and should be on the shelves  of the littles in your life.

When mischief-makers cause trouble in the Women's Building, Willie is put in charge of keeping the building secure.
