The Promise of a Letter By Kathleen Fuller

A letter brings him back to his Amish family. It will take someone truly extraordinary to make him stay.
Roman is on the verge of leaving the Amish ways. Feeling confined by the strict rules, he longs to do something more with his life. But when things don’t go as planned, Roman’s prospects outside of the community dwindle. Upon learning that his beloved grandmother has died and left a letter urging him to reconcile with his brother in Birch Creek, Roman decides to return home. But he doesn’t plan to stay for long.
Leanna Chupp has always made her own way in her small community of Birch Creek. Though some may call her unconventional—strange, even—Leanna is happy. Her unique outlook on life has meant she’s never had many suitors pursuing courtship, which Leanna doesn’t mind. She is content being single.
But when Roman and Leanna find themselves working together again, everything changes. Though neither fit squarely within the strictures of the Amish faith, their differences could be the very thing to help them form a deeper connection to their community and to each other. The question remains: will this strengthening bond be enough to make Roman stay for good?

My Thoughts...

This is not a book that you will be able to put down. I had to find out if the brothers were going to come together and forgive each other and move on.
One brother I did not care much for, I will let you figure out which one when you read it. Because I know that you are going to want to read to find out what is going on with these two brothers.
This is the first book that I have read by Fuller in about 6 or 7 years. I needed a break from all the same ole same ole Amish fiction books.
Another blogger told me that she had changed her writing style to just out some of her later books and this one was sent to me by the publisher so I sat down to give it a try and WOW, it was much different than those first books I had read. I really did enjoy this one.
I am awaiting book three in this series. This can be read as a stand alone I did not read book one and I was not last at all.
I gave this book 4 stars, I recommend it.

Before you Hit Send By Emerson Eggerichs

When will we learn?
With every sunrise we are given plenty of new examples of people “Hitting Send” and soon regretting it. Social media means what it says: it is social! Our methods of communication today allow for something to potentially be broadcast to everyone from Pekin, Illinois to Peking, China. But it’s not only Twitter fanatics who can find themselves in trouble. Every single one of us is capable of falling prey to this growing plague.
Every day we have the potential of both verbal and written blunders. It makes no difference if we are talking to a stranger over a meat counter, chatting on a cell phone with our mother, or sending an e-mail to a coworker; we can and do miscommunicate and people can and do get the wrong idea. When we don't pause long enough to think before speaking or writing, it commonly yields a misunderstanding and leads to a clash. We end up being the person who said, “You know that sphere of the brain that stops you from saying something that you shouldn't? Well, I don’t have one of those.”
This book is about preventing that misunderstanding and allowing for understanding. Said another way, preempting people from getting the wrong idea and enabling them to get the right idea! We all need work in this area in far more ways than just glancing through a checklist.
From external examples to internal turmoil, Before You Hit Send is about the four things we must think through before communicating. In all things we wish to say or write, we would be wise to ask ourselves,
  • Is it true?
  • Is it kind?
  • Is it necessary?
  • Is it clear?
When we ask and answer these four questions honestly, we will be thinking wisely before we speak. But to explore this fully, we need to find out a whole lot more about ourselves and uncover why we consciously and subconsciously get into these communication disasters to begin with.  You may be surprised what you discover about yourself.  Shall we begin?

Married since 1973, he and Sarah have three adult children. He is the president of Love and Respect Ministries and author of the best-selling book Love and Respect.

My Thoughts...

Every person who has access to E-mail and social media should have to read this book and take a test.
I found it one of the best books and with so many quotes that I had to share a few of them on my facebook page. This is  perfect timing  all the hate and politics this needs to be said and I am so glad that Emerson had the guts to write this book.
There is so much packed into this little book. A lot to chew on. I think this would make a wonderful study.
I gave this book 5 stars and the content needs to be read by ALL. Written by an author we all trust, why not give this one top priority and read it and share it with those you love. I will be keeping a copy on my shelf, as well as giving copies to many friends.

My Thoughts...

Deep well rounded characters they feel so real. Very well developed.
Reading this book made me want to run to Mackinac Island. I thought about it the whole time I was reading this book. This a quick read, you will read it in one sitting.
Maude and Ben stole my heart right off the bat. Pagels can sure write it's like she's been to Mackinac Island a time or two. Forgiveness and love shine thru out the pages of this book.
I gave this book 4 stars. I recommend this book to all historical lovers. It would make a great beach read.

Interview with Justine Hemmestad

Visions of a Dream focuses on the spiritual fire that ignites Alexander the Great's actions as he learns from the other cultures he comes into contact with. His closest relationships vie for his love but they also provide the steel he needs to be sharpened spiritually and emotionally, for before he conquers the world he must first conquer his own mind. He is inclusive of all people, all cultures, and all religions and he lives that belief. Alexander's relationships with his fellow man knows no restrictions, nor does his love of the sublime.

Justine Johnston Hemmestad's novel, Visions of a Dream, is a story about how the spiritual life of Alexander the Great intertwined with his military conquests and world vision. Hemmestad is also the author of Truth be Told, a novella that symbolically reveals the struggles in the mind of a brain injured person through a fictional story. For a wonderful Al Cole nod toward Visions of a Dream go to Justine's website: http://jhemmestad.wixsite.com/justine-j-hemmestad

Welcome Justine,

If you were granted one wish what would you wish for? To go back in time and watch Alexander's respect for King Porus of the Punjab region of India, and also to see Alexander's respect for the mother of his arch enemy King Darius of Persia.

I am a dog lover. Tell us about your pets if you have any. My daughters have a bunny named Marshmallow and we have one outside dog, a big mountain dog named Sparky, very lovable but he'll run around the neighborhood if we don't keep him at home. Also my son has a pet Cockatoo named Sebastian.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go? And why? I'm grateful to live in Iowa; I love the cornfields and the people, and I need the peacefulness. For small trips I'd love to visit some archaeological sites in the mid east and south America.

How do you keep your sanity in our run run world? Let things go. And if I have a lot I need to remember I'll make a schedule and prayer lists and journals and that helps (I can easily feel overwhelmed, otherwise).

Tell my blog readers one quirky thing about you. It's not really quirky but I had a severe brain injury in 1990 so I do quirky things because of it like forget things or get lost easy and I have little balance or coordination, and I have trouble seeing or finding someone in a crowd.

What sparked your decision to journey down the path of writing Visions Of A Dream? After a car accident in which I sustained my brain injury, I watched a documentary about Alexander the Great. I so admired his persistence and his ability to overcome in impossible situations - the things I needed myself to recover from my TBI - that I wanted to learn about him in depth (to the degree I could only reach by writing about him). I was stripped of everything personality-wise after my TBI, and as I began to implement aspects of Alexander's personality that I admired, such as his inclusiveness and desire to learn about people, cultures, histories, and religions of the world, I re-discovered myself in a way. He even sent scientific samples back to Aristotle in Greece, his former tutor,  throughout his march eastward, with a mind-set of constantly learning about the world. I think of his determination and resourcefulness in battle and his insatiable appetite to learn about people and cultures, rather than condemn them for not being Greek or Macedonian, in my own quest to earn a Master's Degree in Literature.

Why did you choose this genre? I love the research (which helped me organize my mind and discipline my thoughts) and I love to study the great people of the past to understand what made them great; I love to learn about what the ancients thought about things and why, and how different their perceptions were from today. The more research I did on Alexander, the more aspects of his persona I admired and the more I understood about the time in which he lived because he was in fact a product of that time. Writing about ancient history also took me out of my own struggle in a way while broadening my mind and its ability to adapt to its own injury.

My Thoughts...
Sci-fi, suspense is really not my cup of tea. But I went into this book with an open mind. It is well thought out and researched but I still had a very hard time getting into it . In fact it took me several days to read it and I had to make myself sit down with it. Because it was not a book I would normally enjoy reading I feel it does not feel right to right a review. So I will just say this if you are a fan of sci-fi and suspense books then you might give this one a try.

My Thoughts...

This is the first book I have read in the series, in my opinion it may be better read after the other three books.
Edge of your seat read and great cold  case mystery. Eason keeps you guessing until the very end.
It is a well thought out plot. This is the first book by Eason I have read in 6 or 7 years. I plan to add her back to my to be read pile.

This is a very interesting documentary. Archaeologists over the years have claimed that there is no evidence for the Biblical events of the book of Exodus. The maker of this documentary takes all the evidence found and puts them on chronological order. He proves that there is evidence of the Biblical events. He does have people from both sides that state their claims. I was cautious when I first started watching it. I have been caught by some documentaries that claim to prove the Bible but they are trying to do the exact opposite so I was reserved when I first started watching it.
You do have to have an appreciation of history and how it lines up with the Holy Scripture. I was very surprised by this. I enjoyed listening and learning how the Bible aligns with other historical documents and findings. The most interesting thing that I found was that there is an Egyptian tomb made for Joseph. I enjoyed watching and learning with this documentary and I hope you do also.
I gave this film 4 stars. It's worth the watch.

Welcome, Patty

What sparked your decision to journey down the path of writing "That One Moment"?
My family is full of strong independent women, but life always throws us a curve ball. I was no exception. Sometimes being strong isn't enough, sometimes our hearts are vulnerable and we get hurt. In That One Moment I wanted to show that its okay to guard your heart, that it's okay to be cautious. But, I also wanted to show you can find your way back to trusting someone again. I went down this road after a difficult break up. For 10 years! I was out to prove I could take care of myself and didn't need anyone. The day I met my current husband was my 'That One Moment'. It was the day I learned to trust again and it happened in a flash. Of course, I didn't trust it and resisted the gift presented to me, but after a few false starts we got it right. When I took that leap of faith, it all came together. I used the setting in the mountains because my dad used to take us backpacking every summer. That setting was near and dear to my heart and I felt it was a good setting for a strong independent woman.

Why did you choose this genre?
I chose this genre because all of my books have been historical romantic suspense in the past and I wanted to try something contemporary, something women of today could relate to.

What is the most important thing you hope readers take away from reading "That One Moment"?
If I can encourage one reader to take the steps to trust again no matter how strong they think they are, then I have accomplished my goal. There are so many single moms and women raising families alone, sometimes we close ourselves off for protection. Even though my heroine isn't a mom, she is very vulnerable, afraid to trust. She hides behind her strength and protects her heart at all costs.

How does your faith play in your writing?
Even though I don't write Christian fiction, my books are 'flinch free' and very clean. My faith guides me in that respect. I hope all my books have a message and will encourage women of all ages.

What are you writing now?
I have a children's book coming out in August of this year. It's called Rescue at Wiseman's Pond and based on an actual event on our property this year. It's a new venture for me. I never even thought about writing a children's book, and yet, here it is!

What are your hobbies other than writing?
I am an avid bowler. I hold a 150 average. My league is for women only and it turns into a huge book signing each week. I love my ladies. My husband and I also like to travel every chance we get.

If you could have one superpower what would it be? And why?
Hmm,  a super power. Well, let's keep it on the humorous side. I'd like to be able to physically fly. I hate airplanes and use an alternative mode of travel when I can. It's just no fun flying anymore. How about a Mary Poppins type of thing? I can see myself with that umbrella!

Tell my blog followers how they can keep up with you.
