Hope's Enduring Echo by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Since an accident left her father unable to work, Jennie Ward has taken on the demanding task of inspecting the isolated seven-mile wooden pipeline that supplies water to Cañon City, Colorado. Despite her responsibilities, Jennie harbors dreams of going back to school and longs for something even simpler: a friend. One day, in a moment of impulsive and seemingly hopeless prayer, she asks God for companionship.

Her prayer is answered almost immediately with the arrival of Leo Day, a paleontology student searching for ancient bones buried along the ridges of the wild Arkansas River. Despite her long workdays, Jennie agrees to guide Leo in his quest.

As Jennie navigates her burgeoning friendship with Leo and her unwavering loyalty to her father, she finds herself torn. Leo, who longs for his own father’s approval, could change all Jennie knows. It’s undeniable that God has intertwined their paths, but to what end? With so much at stake, what does He truly intend for the preacher’s son and the linewalker’s daughter to uncover?

The Librarian of Boone's Hollow By Kim Vogel Sawyer

A traveling librarian ventures into the mining towns of Kentucky on horseback—and learns to trust the One who truly pens her story—in this powerful novel from the best-selling author of A Silken Thread.

During the Great Depression, city-dweller Addie Cowherd dreams of becoming a novelist and offering readers the escape that books had given her during her tragic childhood. When her father loses his job, she is forced to take the only employment she can find—delivering books on horseback to poor coal-mining families in the hills of Kentucky.

But turning a new page will be nearly impossible in Boone's Hollow, where residents are steeped in superstitions and deeply suspicious of outsiders. Even local Emmett Tharp feels the sting of rejection after returning to the tiny mountain hamlet as the first in his family to graduate college. And as the crippled economy leaves many men jobless, he fears his degree won’t be worth much in a place where most men either work the coal mine or run moonshine.

As Addie also struggles to find her place, she’ll unearth the truth about a decades-old rivalry. But when someone sets out to sabotage the town’s library program, will the culprit chase Addie away or straight into the arms of the only person who can help her put a broken community back together?

Newlyweds Sean Eagle and Meghan DeFord are no strangers to pain and loss. As cold-case detectives, they know intimately the anguish family members endure after the murder or disappearance of a loved one. But when a new case hits too close to home, it threatens to pull loose the fragile cords of their young marriage.

Sheila Menke was just a girl when her father left for work and never returned. An investigation revealed he had embezzled enough to start a new life elsewhere, but Sheila could never accept the court’s criminalization of her father. Meghan reluctantly takes the case, secretly fearing it will stir up buried feelings about her own biological father. And while Sean investigates the mysterious death of two young brothers, he longs to start a family. But Meghan worries that with a negligent mother and an absentee father as her parenting examples, she might never be fit for motherhood.

As they delve deeper into the past, both Meghan and Sheila must choose to either stumble along the road of bitterness and resentment or walk the difficult path toward forgiveness and healing. When the cases begin to break wide open, these young women are poised to discover that while earthly fathers may fail, there is one in heaven who is a father to the fatherless.

Kim and her retired military husband, Don, reside on the plains of Kansas, the setting for many of her novels.

Welcome Kim...

1. Tell us about your new novel, Beneath a Prairie Moon, and
how the idea for it came about.
Several years ago I wrote a book called A Hopeful Heart which
featured women from the east coming to a Kansas herdsman
school to learn the skills necessary to become ranchersor
farmerswives. Readers enjoyed the humor of watching these
Easterners try to brand cattle, cook for a whole passel of men,
or take care of chickens. Over the years, I received several
requests for another mail-order bride type story, so I was always
contemplating it. Then I thought, the last book taught the
women how to be good wives; why not write one about the
ranchers learning to be good husbands? And Beneath a Prairie
Moon came to life in my imagination.

2. Why do you believe readers are so fascinated with mail-

order bride stories?

I think its the unknown. When you take two people who are
strangers to each other, put them into a situation where they
either learn to get along or be miserable, its intriguing to see
how that plays out. Were encouraged as Christians to choose to
show Christs love to others, and a mail-order story allows that
basic biblical precept to come alive on the page.

3. The main character, Abigail Grant, finds her life turned
upside down when her father is imprisoned for illegal
business dealings. How does her story speak to Gods plans
for each of us when things dont turn out the way we
expect?
There as so many things I appreciate about God, but His ability
to make beauty out of ashes is de6nitely close to the top of the
list. How many times have we felt as if our happiness was
ending, only to find ourselves on the precipice of a brand new
and even brighter opportunity for joy? The thing is, God doesnt
see the way we do, with blinders on. He sees how yesterday,
today, tomorrow, and every day of our lives work together, and
He uses each of our days to weave the most glorious plans for
His children. Of course, we have to be willing to let go of some
things so our hands are open to receive the greater gift He
wants to bestow. I think that was Abigails biggest challenge: to
release the known and receive what could be.

4. What message do you hope your readers will take away
from Beneath a Prairie Moon?
I always hope readers will recognize there is no greater hope
than the one that comes from a relationship with God through
His Son Jesus. But speci6c to this story, I hope readers will
perhaps open themselves up to seeing others through Jesus
eyes. Abigail needed to do this for the townsfolk, and the
townsfolk needed to do this for Abigail. When we look (and love)
through Him instead of relying on our human failings, hearts
change.

5. What can you tell us about what you are working on next?
Next out of the chute is a contemporary womens fiction story
featuring an Old Order Mennonite woman named Marty and her
lifelong friend, Brooke, who was raised by an agnostic mother.
Very different women, yet bound by an abiding friendship that
faces several challenges when they come together on a special
project, rebuilding a Kansas ghost town.

My Thoughts...

As with all of Sawyers books this a must read. You are going to enjoy every page of his one.
Miss. Grant hold a special place in my heart. You have to read the book to find out why.
There are a few twists, I 'm sure you are going to enjoy.
I gave this book 4 stars. I hope you will check it out.

A story of hope! You are going to love this book I call it the "Book of Forgiveness".
You are going to be in awe of this one that's for sure if you have e read a book by Sawyer you already know her books are books of hope so this one could not have been titled better.
The story itself is base off of Sawyers husbands Great Grandmothers life. And oh what a story it is.  It is on the top ten list of my favorite  fiction books this year so far.
What Neva does and the person she truly is, to me its the true picture of a child of God.
I just LOVED this book! 5 stars two times is not enough that's for sure. I HIGHLY recommend this book!
