A Home for Lydia By Vannetta Chapman

A Home for Lydia, the second book in a new romantic series from popular author Vannetta Chapman, centers again on the Plain community of Pebble Creek and the kind, caring people there. As they face challenges to their community from the English world, they come together to reach out to their non-Amish neighbors while still preserving their cherished Plain ways.
Aaron Troyer simply wants to farm like his father and grandfather before him. But instead he finds himself overseeing the family's small group of guest cabins nestled along the banks of Pebble Creek. That also means he must work with the cabins' housekeeper, Lydia Fisher.
Lydia is the most outspoken Amish woman Aaron has ever met, and she has strong opinions about how the guest cabins are to be run. She also desperately needs this job. Though sparks fly between boss and employee at first, when the cabins are robbed, nothing is more important to Aaron than making sure Lydia is safe.
Together they work to make the vacation property profitable, but can they find out the identity of the culprit before more damage is done? And is Lydia's dream of a home of her own more than just a wish and a prayer?

She discovered her love for the Amish while researching her grandfather's birthplace of Albion, Pennsylvania. Her first novel, A Simple Amish Christmas, quickly became a bestseller. Chapman lives in the Texas hill country with her husband.

A Home for Lydia book two in the Pebble Creek Amish series is a must read. If you have not read book one in the series this one does read easy by itself.

revealing Heaven By John Price

Can Christians Trust Tales from Heaven? Yes!
Millions have read the testimonies of those who have been to heaven and returned. But what do these stories mean for Christians? How do they fit with what the Bible teaches? What do they say about who goes to heaven? After hearing over two hundred accounts of near-death experiences, the Reverend John W. Price narrates the stories of these eyewitnesses and now makes a case not only for why Christians can trust near-death accounts but for why we should treat these amazing stories as precious gifts from God.

This is a must read for sure if you are interested in heaven and near death experiences.
It is a very inspirational book, hard to put down. John gives explanations in a very informative way.
I for one hope that when I get to heaven I do not have to come back here.

The Sky Beneath My Feet By Lisa Samson Giveaway!

Beth's husband won't be joining the family on vacation at the beach this year. He's not even joining them in the house. Instead, Rick has holed up alone in the backyard shed. Nobody knows exactly what he's up to. Maybe he's immersing himself in prayer. Maybe he's lost his mind. Maybe he's even the modern-day prophet or the saint the neighborhood artist imagines him to be. But while "St. Rick" waits for an epiphany, Beth will have to figure out what to do with herself and their teenage sons, possibly for the rest of her life.
What happens next is both uproarious and bittersweet: a peace march turns violent, her son is caught with drugs, and she embarks on an ambitious road trip that turns into something nearly surreal. Will Beth rediscover the idealistic woman she used to be, once upon a time? Can her marriage survive Rick's backyard vigil? Will anything ever be the same? And should it be?
Truthful, comic, heartbreaking, and magical in the very best sense of the word, The Sky Beneath My Feet gently tears the veil off our egos and expectations to reveal the throbbing, redemptive, and achingly beautiful life beyond and within us.

My Amish Childhood By Jerry Eicher GIVEAWAY!

Bestselling fiction author Jerry S. Eicher (nearly half a million books sold) turns his pen to a moving memoir of his life growing up Amish.
Jerry's mother was nineteen years old and nine months married when he was born. She had received Grandfather Stoll's permission for the wedding because she agreed to help out on the farm the following year. However, with Jerry on the way, those plans failed.
Jerry recounts his first two years of school in the Amish community of Aylmer, Ontario and his parents' decision to move to Honduras.  Life in that beautiful Central American country is seen through an Amish boy's eyes--and then the dark days when the community failed and the family returned to America, much to young Jerry's regret. Jerry also tells of his struggle as a stutterer and his eventual conversion to Christ and the reasons for his departure from the childhood faith he knew.
Here is a must-read for not just Jerry's fiction fans, but also for readers curious about Amish life.

This the first book I have read by Janice.
I want to start by saying that I have  heard great things about this author, how most of her books all full of humor. And fun easy reads. So I was thinking that was what I was going to be reading.  A fun, easy, fast read.
While the read was cute it just felt like a first draft as if she rushed to write it.
The characters seemed way to cookie cutter to me, maybe it was just me.
So I well leave you with this, this book was not my cup of tea. I give it 3 stars.

Mary enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, bicycling and swimming. But her favorite pasttime is snorkeling, which she seldom gets to do living in Ohio. Boy, Can Mary write an amazing Amish story. I can not get enough of her story telling. But then again I have always been a sucker for a great romance.

I firmly believe God will put people in your life for a reason and in this must read book Nora must choose the right  person to share her life with. I love happy endings.

A Travel Guide to Heaven By Anthony Destefano Giveaway!

A recent Newsweek poll reports that 76 percent of Americans believe in heaven. Yet even avid believers have difficulty conjuring up more than vague images of halos, harps, and wispy angels in flowing robes. Anthony DeStefano knew there had to be a more complete, meaningful, and comforting vision of what heaven is like, and A Travel Guide to Heaven is the entertaining and enlightening result.

Using the Bible as his guide, the author notes that heaven is not only a spiritual place, but also a physical place, a fabulous “luxury resort” more sumptuous than any on Earth. The residents are real, their bodies transformed into their most perfect selves—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. By making a spiritual subject immensely physical, the book provides a picture of amazing places to visit, things to do, luxuries for pampering—not to mention deep, abiding joy.

Combining the clarity and logic of C. S. Lewis with a terrific sense of fun and adventure, DeStefano creates a brilliant, reassuring portrait of heaven, a place that has intrigued and puzzled humankind throughout history. With its clear view of the afterlife, A Travel Guide to Heaven might best be compared to James Van Praagh's Talking to Heaven or Betty J. Eadie's Embraced by the Light in its tremendous message of comfort and reassurance.

Anthony DeStefano is the bestselling author of "A Travel Guide to Heaven," "Ten Prayers God Always Says Yes To," "Angels All Around Us," and the children's books, "This Little Prayer of Mine," "Little Star," "The Donkey that No One Could Ride," and gift book, "I Just Can't Take it Anymore." He has received many prestigious awards from religious organizations worldwide for his efforts to advance Christian beliefs in modern culture. In 2013, two new children's books by DeStefano will be published: "A Travel Guide to Heaven- For Kids!" and "The Sheep that No One Could Find."

This is the third book by Anthony that I have read. It was the first one that he wrote. I want to tell you it was just as good as the first two. Anthony has a way of explaining Heaven like no one I have every seen.
I really did enjoy this look at heaven, and I know you blog readers will as well.
Let me tell you, take your time when you are reading this book, ponder on what you are reading. I am sure that you will have a whole new outlook on Heaven when you get done with this book.
I give this book 4 stars, And I recommend it.

Fast Food Vindication By Lisa Tillinger Johansen Giveaway!

For years, dozens of books, documentaries, and magazine articles have targeted the fast food industry as the cause for many of society’s ills, ranging from the obesity epidemic to the proliferation of dead-end jobs. Now, hospital dietitian Lisa Johansen makes the bold case that the fast food industry is actually a positive force in society. Johansen takes the reader from the industry’s scrappy, entrepreneurial beginnings to its emergence as a global business generating hundreds of billions of dollars annually. Far from a blight on society, the fast food industry has distinguished itself by providing a product that meets high standards of quality and safety, often healthier than meals served at home and in sit-down restaurants. The myth of the “McJob” is debunked by true-life cases of corporate titans who succeeded by virtue of the fast-food chains’ practice of promoting from within. And, relying on her years of counseling patients at one of the nation’s largest health networks, Johansen shows the reader just how easily fast food can be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle. Lively and informative, FAST FOOD VINDICATION destroys the media myths and paints the true picture of an industry that touches the lives of millions.

Beyond the Bluegrass By Golda Harvey Giveaway!

15 Year Nightmare of Abduction, Rape and Torture...Beyond the Bluegrass is a true story about a young woman who grew up in the backwoods of Kentucky. At sixteen years old, Golda wanted a better life and decided to leave her hometown to get a job to earn money for college. What Golda didn't know was that the path she was taking her to a place where she would be kidnapped. The police in Kentucky turned a blind eye and nobody seemed to search for her, nobody seemed to want to help even though she desperately tried to get away. Beaten and battered, she escaped, but then Golda was re-captured and forced back into submission as the man threatened to murder her family. Golda couldn't put anyone else at risk, especially her children and continued to suffer physical, sexual, and psychological abuse for years on end, hoping that she could get away once and for all. She ignored the pain, the gnawing inside her stomach, instead choosing to protect the ones she loved from pain and death. Beyond the Bluegrass depicts a woman's struggle with hope and her desire for freedom. After years of being subject to abuse, she wasn't sure if she would survive or make it out alive. For Golda, freedom would most certainly mean death. Golda's story changed from one of being a victim to being a survivor. Her story is an unflinching and honest tale of the battle with a captor and her struggle to survive.

I only give honest reviews, and I try my best not to hurt the author. My opinions are about the book not the author.
This book was so hard to read not because of the content but because of the poor writing, I really think that Ms. Harvey needs a good editor, the story jumps around and it is not telling the whole story.
I was left not knowing how she dealt with everything , how did how kids deal with it all. Why did she go to jail? I did not get anything from the book, all of the unanswered questions, left me hanging, I did not care for it.
On the up side if a good editor gets a hold of this book, it may be a huge hit.

It's a quaint story about a family, the Krons, and their generational memories starting with the great grandparents and ending with the last generation's character. It begins in the earlier 1900's and concludes in 1984, describing their colorful life details and traditions, ending with the main character coming back on his 50th birthday to relish the lasting memories of his past. This book is one of the ones that give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Philip Nork was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. After moving to Nevada and accepting a job which left him on the road way too often, he started having dreams...dreams about the women of his life and how they impacted him. After jotting down these "memories" and being able to mold them all into a manuscript that not only told an "interesting and unique story," but left a heartwarming message at the end, he decided to publish this real-life fiction piece to see what would happen. Would people connect with his journey of self-discovery?
They obviously have since Phil now has 4 reality fiction books and 1 poetry book available. They all center around divorce, how a child reacts to that divorce and the people around him who help him become a whole person again.

This is the third book that I have read by Philip. It was not my favorite one but it was good.
I for one would love to have a cabin on a lake. I could just sit out by the water and read all day.
I love how Philip tells a story. I love the grandfather in the story,I like books about families. If you do to then this just might be a book for you.

My Baby's Feet By Sheila Luck

Choice, Death, and the Aftermath
Fearfully and desperately wanting to hide my mistakes and deny the unwanted, but not totally unexpected ramifications of my earlier choices, I chose what seemed to be the easiest answer. I chose death, and then I moved into the aftermath of my choice. I, for a lifetime and beyond, will live in the aftermath of my choice. Although there is recovery, through forgiveness, there are lasting ramifications. No one told me that the ramifications of my choice would last forever. No one told me what my choice would do to my heart. No one told me that my choice was, in fact, a death sentence for my baby.
Are you, or someone you know, facing an unwanted pregnancy? Are you wondering if "choice" is the answer, the easiest solution?
After the "choice" comes the aftermath. A living choice not only gives life to a baby, but results in an aftermath of life. Abortion results in an aftermath forever shrouded in death, death of a baby, perhaps death of your own baby. For those struggling with the aftermath of abortion, you and your loved ones can find forgiveness.
This book is for:
• Teenage moms wrestling with choice and an unplanned pregnancy
• Loved ones who are seeking resolution after abortion
• Anyone who needs hope and healing after abortion
This book is a great tool for teen pregnancy educators, pregnancy center advisors, and those seeking to learn more about the emotional struggles, post abortion. It is written out of love and understanding by a woman who thought her choice was the best answer. Whether or not you are a Christian, you will be inspired by the author's incredible faith, without which it would have been impossible to write this book.
Through my story, I pray that you will know that a living choice is the only real choice.
Join me in my story of running from my mistakes, hiding my choice, and slogging through the aftermath. Come with me as I discover a new truth about an old choice. Join me as I struggle with guilt and heartfelt shame, knowing the new truth. Observe the aftermath.
What choice would you have made? What choice would you recommend?

Wings of Glass By Gina Holmes

From the best-selling author of Crossing Oceans comes a heartrending yet uplifting story of friendship and redemption. On the cusp of adulthood, eighteen-year-old Penny Carson is swept off her feet by a handsome farmhand with a confident swagger. Though Trent Taylor seems like Prince Charming and offers an escape from her one-stop-sign town, Penny's happily-ever-after lasts no longer than their breakneck courtship. Before the ink even dries on their marriage certificate, he hits her for the first time. It isn't the last, yet the bruises that can't be seen are the most painful of all.

When Trent is injured in a welding accident and his paycheck stops, he has no choice but to finally allow Penny to take a job cleaning houses. Here she meets two women from very different worlds who will teach her to live and laugh again, and lend her their backbones just long enough for her to find her own.

I have to tell you I have read Gina's first two books they were good. Well Crossing Oceans was one of the best books I have ever read. When I got my copy of Wings of Glass I just was not sure that Gina could top Crossing Oceans, Well she did.
This is such a moving book.  A book full of hope. My heart went out to  Penny, I have lived that life and I just felt her pain.
This was a very emotional read for me, but I never put it down. Gina pulled me in and I am happy to say it is my new favorite book by her.
I loved the end, it turned out just like I was hoping it would.
I give this book 5 stars and I highly recommend it.

Another Second Chance... God's Story By Troy Lewis

How a stranger's kidney saved my life ...And my brothers too!

Troy played Jesus Christ in a local passion drama for 9 years. He successfully coached girls fastpitch softball for 7 years. He and his wife had two beautiful girls.

But in January of 2010, after being blindsided with the news of kidney failure, the man from Ohio came to the realization that life as he knew it was over... He began a race against time, struggling at every turn, taking detours that didn't make sense, and facing roadblocks that tested his faith. When things looked absolutely hopeless, Hope showed up in a miraculous way!

Troy thought it was a brother's love that would save him, but it was a Father's love that saved them both. A thousand miles away a stranger felt a call to courageously give with nothing expected in return, not knowing that he had the rarest of kidneys.

Troy couldn't have imagined what God had in store for all who were part of this story. Hollywood couldn't have scripted it. He humbly encourages everyone reading this book to believe that, no matter what we are facing in life, we can experience the revelation of what God has in store for our lives.

This book will speak to anyone facing challenges larger than themselves, whether it's job loss, financial ruin, family pain, or your own battle with illness. Miracles still happen and there is always "Another Second Chance".
