Simeon can’t stop thinking about the pretty Amish teacher at the local one-room school. But he’s ignored the sparks between them because he’s so shy. So Simeon’s little brother, Isaac, is taking matters into his own hands. He’s determined to give his brother the best Christmas present ever—a date with his favorite teacher. Bestselling Amish author, Linda Byler, brings the holiday season to life in her first Christmas novella.
Linda Byler grew up Amish and is an active member of the Amish church today. Growing up, Linda Byler loved to read and write. In fact, she still does. She is well known within the Amish community as a columnist for a weekly Amish newspaper. Linda and her husband, their children and grandchildren live in central Pennsylvania.
I just LOVE this time of year all of the wonderful Christmas books coming out.

WoW was I so surprised by this book, it is a very fun, easy, fast read. It is a book you can read in one sitting. I really enjoyed it. I love the cover!

No we don't have the best decorated tree but grandma and the kids love it. Of course my husband puts on the lights

My favorite family tradition was making a Christmas Castle. (It was actually called a Santa Claus Castle.) We made it in school when I was in the 4th grade. My teacher had us draw numbers out of a box, mine was 13, and then she drew a number from another box and the number was 13. So I won the castle and I was able to take it home after the Christmas program. Once I married and had children we made a castle every year until the kids grew tired of it. I wish I had some pictures of one of our castles to show you what it looked like. The kids and I sure had fun making it!

ReplyDeleteJames you won! I will get your book in the mail this week! Congrats!
DeleteMy favorite family Christmas tradtion-where to start! I love the time I spend with my mother baking cookies to deliver to friends and family. I love the Christmas eve mass with the family, then the lighting of the luminaries and a big Italian feast of 7 fishes dinner. Christmas morning is a big breakfast with whoever wants to join us. Family, friends, neighbors and anyone who has a desire for food and fun!Id love to win myself this book for a early Christmas gift!
ReplyDeleteDay after Thanksgiving, both grown kids and their families come and put up Grammy's (that's me) Christmas tree. The grand kids have a ball decorating it. I remember one time when my little granddaughter was just about 2 or 3 yrs old. She hung all the ornaments that we gave her all on the same branch. My daughter said that I could rearrange them later on, but I left them like that all season. It was her branch!
ReplyDeleteWould like to read this book. Thank you for the chance to win a copy.
we always say a prayer before we open gifts say thanks for all we were about to get. would love too win
ReplyDeleteI also love the cover, Mary! I just saw some books by this author today while in Shipshewana. I love reading Christmas books, and this one sounds so sweet! One of our favorite Christmas traditions has been putting up our Christmas nativity during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I have a very large Fontanini collection, and we all love to arrange and rearrange all of the shephers, wisemen, sheep, other animals, etc. The setting up of the nativity gets us in the mindset for why we celebrate the season... a very special blessing! The best gift of all!
ReplyDeleteEach year I buy or make a Christmas ornament for each of my daughters. My mom makes a roast beef with gravy for our Christmas dinner....so so good!
ReplyDeleteEvery year we take a picture of the feast table loaded with goodies. It seems funny now, because the picture all look almost identical! Nobody gets creative with the Christmas spread!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a copy of this book. I have read all the others that are available, and greatly enjoyed them.
Glad to see Linda come out with another book. I enjoyed her other books, not as much as some, but I tought they were authinically Amish.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is putting up our tree. My little boy and I usually do this together, with some help from my Mom. We usually do it the day after Thanksgiving, but last year, my so wanted it put up the Monday before Thanksgiving, so maybe we started a new tradition! I too love reading Christmas stories.
This sounds like such an awesome Christmas story! As for our favorite tradition--it's Christmas Eve:
ReplyDeleteWe go to candlelight service at church early evening, then order and pick up Chinese food on our way home, then we all watch the Grinch Who Stole Christmas (original version!!!) together, and then read the Christmas Lizard (it's an awesome story about what Christmas REALLY means). My boys at 18 and 13yo still insist on the same tradition....lol---it wouldn't feel like Christmas without it!
Now that my children are grown I spend Christmas Eve alone but so enjoy playing "Mrs. Santa" for my two grandchildren who are and 2. Though on Christmas Eve I speak to them on the phone to let them know I've put cookies & milk out for Santa just as my children used to do. I always leave the plate with crumbs & empty milk glass out so that when they come late Christmas morning they can see that Santa had been to Grandma Ba's house, too. It's like getting that little bit of Christmas magic back when you have little ones who still believe.
ReplyDeleteI love reading books especially those about the Amish. I thank you for the chance to win "Little Amish Matchmaker."
Perhaps it is using my mothers fruitcake recipe and
ReplyDeletemaking icebox fruitcake. If I make it this year,
she won't be here to help, but the memories it will
bring back!
