The Christmas Visitor By Linda Byler

Young Amish widow, Ruth, and her six children are still grieving the sudden loss of her husband, Ben, as Christmas arrives in Amish author, Linda Byler's, holiday novel. Ruth can barely put food on the table, let alone buy toys for her children. But then gifts begin to appear at her door. Could they be from that kind man who just joined their community?

One moment, Ben Miller was high up in the rafters at his neighbor's barn raising. The next, his foot slipped and he plunged to his death, leaving behind a young wife and six children—the youngest born four months after his death. Ruth Miller is not alone. Her Amish neighbors help her to make the difficult transition from wife to widow.

But while the community has been generous, raising six growing children, each grieving their father's death, is overwhelming. Devastated by her loss, Ruth isn't sure how she'll make ends meet or restore order to a house full of rambunctious kids. With help from her mother and her energetic, but untidy neighbor, Mamie, Ruth finds a way to start over. Preoccupied with the effort to create a new life and manage her shrinking bank account, Ruth barely notices John King, the handsome newcomer to her community. Besides, how could she—if she had a chance—replace Ben? Does one ever replace a husband?

As Christmas approaches, Ruth knows that she can't afford gifts for her children this year. It's hard enough to find money for groceries each week. But then banana boxes full of food, treats for the children, and even money begin to appear on her front porch. Who is leaving her these generous gifts? Is it a neighbor or a friend? Or, Ruth wonders, could it be John, who keeps unexpectedly appearing when Ruth most needs help?

Linda Byler grew up Amish and is an active member of the Amish church today. Growing up, Linda loved to read and write. In fact, she still does. She is the author of Running Around (and Such), the first novel in the “Lizzie Searches for Love” series. She is well-known within the Amish community as a columnist for a weekly Amish newspaper. Linda and her husband, their children, and grandchildren live in central Pennsylvania.

I was so happy when a friend gave me this book as a gift, I could not wait to read it.
I was so disappointed, I think it was written by a 6th grader. It was all over the place and very predictable and just not what you would expect from a Amish Christmas book. This was just not my cup of tea, I feel I could not recommend this book to anyone.
I hate to say this but 2 stars is really a stretch.

Take Charge of your Emotions By Dr.Linda Solie

Respected Christian Psychologist Helps Readers Find Relief from Emotional Pain

Linda J. Solie, a psychologist who has been in private practice for more than 20 years, says everyone can benefit from taking charge of their emotional health. She gives readers the skills to take control of their thoughts and behaviors by first identifying the problem thinking that creates painful feelings and undesirable conduct. Then using a seven-step process, she helps them change their feelings and behavior. Throughout the book the seven steps are applied to a variety of situations, both short term--such as a distressing mood--and longer term, including significant longstanding emotional pain. Grounded in faith, the reader's relationship with Jesus is always central to the process.

As William Backus pioneered a generation ago with Telling Yourself the Truth (more than 700,000 sold), Solie will reach thousands of readers who don't have easy access to mental health providers or can't afford them. Pastors and lay counselors will also find this an excellent resource to use and recommend.

Dr. Linda J. Solie (PhD, University of Minnesota) is a licensed psychologist helping clients overcome emotional challenges, specializing in issues of depression and anxiety. She began her practice as a hospital staff psychologist working with children and adults and has been in private practice for more than 20 years. A member of the American Psychological Association, Solie speaks nationwide at churches and retreats as well as other venues. She makes her home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This book is very hard to read, it is full of good information but it is very time consuming to read. It is laid out in such a way you really have to take your time reading it. Make sure to have your Bible beside you when you are reading this book and look up every scripture as you are reading it.
It was not a fix it book so if that is what you want open your Bible and start reading and pray a lot.
I had a very hard time with this book, I tried to devote time to it but I was just not able to get anything from it.
The author wants you to write down your feelings and have self talks daily about your situations.
It may be a book for you if you have a lot of time to devote to it . If you are looking for a self help book with out giving it to the Lord and you think reading a book can fix your emotional problems, then maybe give this book a try.
I gave this book three stars.

Well the third and last book in The Days of Redemption series just may have been the best.
I really hated to see this series end.
The family and everything they had to face was so real. Shelley has a way of taking a fiction book and making it seem so real.
Shelley writes about a disability and how you are allowed to feel normal and it is okay to let God in like no one else.
I can't wait to see what is next from Shelley.
I gave this book 4 stars and I recommend this book.

Made to Last By Melissa Tagg

Miranda Woodruff has it all. At least, that's how it looks when she's starring in her homebuilding television show, From the Ground Up. So when her network begins to talk about making cuts, she'll do anything to boost ratings and save her show--even if it means pretending to be married to a man who's definitely not the fiancé who ran out on her three years ago.

When a handsome reporter starts shadowing Miranda's every move, all his digging into her personal life brings him a little too close to the truth--and to her. Can the girl whose entire identity is wrapped up in her on-screen persona finally find the nerve to set the record straight? And if she does, will the life she's built come crashing down just as she's found a love to last?

Pick up your copy right away..

Melissa Tagg is a former reporter turned author who loves all things funny and romancey. Her debut novel, a romantic comedy titled Made to Last, releases from Bethany House in September 2013, with a follow-up slated for summer 2014. In addition to her nonprofit day job, she is also the marketing/events coordinator for My Book Therapy, a craft and coaching community for writers founded by award-winning author Susan May Warren.

During her reporting days, Melissa interviewed presidential candidates and llama farmers, rode a hot air balloon and flew a plane, and once found herself face to face with a buffalo. But today she gets her kicks by letting her characters have their own fun. She's passionate about humor, grace and happy endings.

This is a tremendous debut book. I really think that this book should be a movie. I could see everything happening on each page.
I could not put it down. I loved Randi and Matthew and I had to know what was going to happen to them.
I was left wanting more, the ending did not  et me know if Matthew's niece got her surgery and I want to read more about Matthew and Randi.
I am praying that Melissa writes another book with these characters.
I look forward to Melissa's next novel!
I gave this book 5 stars and I highly recommend this fantastic romance.

Wanda Brunstetter is an award-winning romance novelist who has led millions of readers to lose their heart in the Amish life. She is the author of almost 60 books with more than 6 million copies sold. Many of her books have landed on the top bestseller lists, including the New York Times, USA Today, Publisher's Weekly, CBA, ECPA, and CBD. Wanda is considered one of the founders of the Amish fiction genre, and her work has been covered by national publications, including Time Magazine and USA Today.

Wanda's fascination with the Amish culture developed when she met her husband, Richard, who grew up in a Mennonite church, and whose family has a Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. Meeting her new Mennonite sister-in-laws caused Wanda to yearn for the simpler life. In their travels, she and her husband have become close friends with many Amish people across America. Wanda's desire to explore their culture increased when she discovered that her great-great grandparents were part of the Anabaptist faith.

All of Wanda's novels are based on personal research intended to accurately portray the Amish way of life. Many of her books are well-read and trusted by the Amish, who credit her for giving readers a deeper understanding of the people and their customs.

Wanda's primary attraction to the Amish is their desire to live a devout Christian life that strives to honor God, work hard, and maintain close family ties. Whenever she visits her Amish friends, Wanda finds herself drawn to their peaceful lifestyle, sincerity, and close family ties, which is in stark contrast to the chaos and busyness that plagues so many modern "Englishers." Time and time again, Wanda loses her heart in the Amish life, and she hopes her readers will, too. For more information, visit: www.WandaBrunstetter.com.

I just read Twice Loved in less then an hour. It is a fast read but it is so full of Love.  I love Dan and Bev's story, the family they became.
I don't think this book is anything Like what most of you Wanda Fans are used to.
This is not an Amish story, it is a fantastic love story, a story of healing and getting over the loss of a loved one.
I love books with a great Christmas story, this is not a book to be missed. This is a feel good book.
This is an older book first published back in 2005 it has just be republished this year and I am so happy that I got the chance to read it.
5 Star book for sure.

She and her family have spent over eight years living as missionaries in Africa where she homeschools, leads a women's group, and runs a non-profit organization that works alongside their church-planting ministry. The ECHO Project works in southern Africa promoting Education, Compassion, Health, and Opportunity and is a way for her to "speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves...the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice." (Proverbs 31:8)

I really struggled with this book, I for some reason just could not get into it. I had to make myself sit and read it after fighting it for two weeks.
Something about the characters just did not come across for me. It was like the story was pieced together at some points. I am just not really sure what was going on at times.
I did think that the author was pretty clear on the research that she did for the book that was a plus. But she left me hanging in the end which I did not really care for.
I am sorry to say this is just a three star book.

For more information, visit: www.WandaBrunstetter.com

Well Wanda has done it again could it be possible to write another 5 star book half as good as The half Stitched Amish Quilting Club! The answer is Yes, this one was just as good and I loved every one of the characters in this one. I would love to take a quilting class at Emma's house.
I have a very good friend who loves to quilt and I thought of her with each turn of the page she is not Amish but she  could teach a class with the heart of Emma.
I HIGHLY recommend this 5 star book. I enjoyed it so much I hated to see it end. Speaking of the end oh boy just you wait. Who knows maybe Wanda will write a third book in this series.
I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review. Thank you Wanda.

Murder, Plain and Simple By Isabella Alan GIVEAWAY!

First in a new series!

When Angela Braddock inherits her late aunt’s beautiful Amish quilt shop, she leaves behind her career and broken engagement for a fresh start in Holmes County, Ohio.

With her snazzy cowboy boots and her ornithophobic French bulldog, Angie doesn’t exactly fit in with the predominantly Amish community in Rolling Brook, but her aunt’s quilting circle tries to make her feel welcome as she prepares for the reopening of Running Stitch.

On the big day, Angie gets a taste of success as the locals and Englisch tourists browse the store’s wares while the quilters stitch away. But when Angie finds the body of ornery Amish woodworker Joseph in her storeroom the next morning, everything starts falling apart.

With evidence mounting against her, Angie is determined to find the culprit before the local sheriff can arrest her. Rolling Brook always appeared to be a simple place, but the closer Angie gets to the killer, the more she realizes that nothing in the small Amish community is as plain as it seems....

You must pick up a copy

Mary Ellis grew up close to the eastern Ohio Amish community, Geauga County, where her parents often took her to farmer's markets and woodworking fairs. She loved their peaceful, agrarian lifestyle, their respect for the land, and their strong sense of Christian community.

She and her husband now live close to the largest population of Amish in the country--a four-county area in central Ohio. They often take weekend trips to purchase produce, meet Amish families, and enjoy a simpler way of life.

Mary enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, bicycling and swimming. But her favorite pasttime is snorkeling, which she seldom gets to do living in Ohio. She is a former middle school teacher and a former saleswoman for the world's best chocolate company. Now she writes full-time and wonders why her house is still dusty and her garden has so many weeds. She is currently working on the New Beginnings series. Book 1-Living in Harmony is set in Maine and released in August. Book 2-Love Comes to Paradise is set in Missouri and will release in Feb 2013. Book 3-A Little Bit of Paradise is set in Kentucky and will release in July of 2013.

I am Mary's number on fan.
I fell in love with this book right from the start. The very first page has the words to the song Amazing grace ( Which I LOVE).
And the very first chapter has Rachel leaving Missouri heading to Kentucky ( Which I am a huge UK fan). So I knew this book was going to be a favorite of mine.
Boy was I right, I feel in love with Jake and was sad at one point in the book I will not give anything away. I soon became happy because the ending I did not see coming and I loved it. I always love when an Amish story turns out much different then most books do.
You do not want to miss this book. I HIGHLY recommend this great work of fiction.
I gave this book 5 stars.

I love the healing love and faith in this story. God has his hand all over the book. It dose not hurt that the story is woven all around a quilt.

"I'm going to be a writer when I grow up!" Sandra D. Bricker declared these words to her father on a Sunday afternoon in Slidell, Louisiana. She was 5 years old, and was referring to being able to string her cursive letters together to write her full name for the first time, but the declaration proved somewhat prophetic.

By the time she reached high school and her first article was published in The Cincinnati Enquirer, Sandie knew writing was what she wanted to do. For more than a decade, Sandie lived in Los Angeles and, while writing in every spare moment, she studied screenwriting and worked as a personal assistant and publicist to some of daytime television's hottest stars. When her mother became ill in Florida, she walked away from that segment of her life and moved cross-country to take on a new role: Caregiver.

"I guess most people would see my career as a publicist as a sort of dream job. But giving it up turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me!" she declares. "Not only was I given the gift of getting to know my mother as an adult woman before she passed away, but I was also afforded the blessing of being able to re-focus on writing novels in an effort to pursue my dream of a writing career."

That career weaves a web that draws in every age of reader. Sandie's interest in telling a story knows no boundaries. Three novels for middle readers carved out the beginning of the journey; then Avalon Books followed up with two hardbound romance novels in 2001: unWANTED: Husband (romantic comedy) and Change of Heart (romantic suspense). The response was tremendous, and Sandie was asked to pen a sequel to Change of Heart ... and so Sins of the Past was released in December 2003. Next up was another romantic comedy; Wish I Weren't Here was released in February 2005.

Sandra usually writes really funny stories, she has such a fantastic sense of humor. This book was very deep and written straight  from the heart.
I love most of the Quilts of  Love series books. This one is in my top five favorites so far.
This book really hits home to me as I have lost all of my family to the ugly C word Cancer. So when reading and waiting page by page to see if Gray is going to find his way back to God, I may be his loudest cheer leader .  I think that you will find this to be one of the best books written in this series.
A very emotional read for me. But very good!
I gave this book 5 stars. I highly recommend it.
I was given a copy by Wynn-Wynn Media for my honest review. Thanks so much  Jeane.
