Home to Chicory Lane By Deborah Raney

Audrey Whitman's dreams are coming true. Now that their five kids are grown, she and her husband Grant are turning their beloved family home into a cozy bed and breakfast, just a mile outside of Langhorne, Missouri. Opening weekend makes Audrey anxious, with family and friends coming from all over to help celebrate the occasion. But when Audrey's daughter, Landyn, arrives, the U-Haul she's pulling makes it clear she's not just here for a few days. Audrey immediately has questions. What happened in New York that sent Landyn running home? Where was Landyn's husband, Chase? And what else was her daughter not telling her? One thing was for sure, the Chicory Inn was off to a rocky start. Can Audrey still realize her dream and at the same time provide the comfort of home her daughter so desperately needs?

I went from full-time stay-at-home mom for 20 years to pretty much full-time author. My passion is my family-my husband and I have been married for 40 years and have four kids, five darling grandkids--so far! But since, if a mom does her job right, she eventually puts herself OUT of a job, I'm delighted to have the privilege of working as a novelist. I could not enjoy the writing life more.

I've had a couple of non-fiction books published and contributed to some anthologies, as well as writing magazine articles. But my first love is fiction. I have written more than 25 novels and since The Face of the Earth for Howard/Simon & Schuster released in May 2013, I am now working on a new five-book series for Abingdon Press. Home to Chicory Lane releases August 2014.

A typical writing day for me begins early--often before 6 a.m.--with the business side of things: answering e-mail and reader mail, updating my Web site, reading for research. We're now empty-nesters so our routine is much quieter than it was when we had four kids at home. When my writing time begins, I have a routine that sets the stage, starting with lighting scented candles, choosing mood music on Pandora, and brewing a pot of coffee. Lately I've been enjoying coffee our son sent me from Germany. I have a cozy office that looks out over our front yard. But since I write on a laptop, I often take my computer to the kitchen counter, a chair by the fireplace, or, if the weather is nice, out on the deck where the birds, squirrels, ducks, geese, and an occasional egret, provide entertainment. I try to wrap up the day's words (usually 1000-1500 a day) by suppertime.

Believe it or not, my first choice of activities for the evening is READING--a great novel, of course! As much as I enjoy the actual process of writing, I am an extrovert by nature, and doubt I'd last long in this business were it not for the company of several wonderful online writers' groups, the joy of connecting with other authors at retreats and conventions, and meeting aspiring writers when I teach at conferences around the country.

Probably the most exciting event in my writing life so far was when my first novel was made into a film by World Wide Pictures. Certainly a dream come true and I feel blessed beyond words to still, 20 years later, get to be doing what I love as my day job.

This was the first book in the Chicory Inn Series, book 2 is Two Roads Home.
Is was different not one that I would normally read.
It was slow for a bit and pick up just over half way.
I connected with Chase and found him to be one of the better characters in this book.
I gave this book 4 stars and I will try book two out and see how it goes.

The Story Keeper By Lisa Wingate

Successful New York editor, Jen Gibbs, is at the top of her game with her new position at Vida House Publishing -- until a mysterious manuscript from an old slush pile appears on her desk. Turning the pages, Jen finds herself drawn into the life of Sarra, a mixed-race Melungeon girl trapped by dangerous men in the turn of the century Appalachia. A risky hunch may lead to The Story Keeper's hidden origins and its unknown author, but when the trail turns toward the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a place Jen thought she'd left behind forever, the price of a blockbuster next book deal may be higher than she's willing to pay.

IN THE WRITER'S OWN WORDS: A special first grade teacher, Mrs. Krackhardt, made a writer out of me. That may sound unlikely, but it's true. It's possible to find a calling when you're still in pigtails and Mary Jane shoes, and to know it's your calling. I was halfway through the first grade when I landed in Mrs. Krackhardt's classroom. I was fairly convinced there wasn't anything all that special about me... and then, Mrs. Krackhardt stood over my desk and read a story I was writing. She said things like, "This is a great story! I wonder what happens next?"

It isn't every day a shy new kid gets that kind of attention. I rushed to finish the story, and when I wrote the last word, the teacher took the pages, straightened them on the desk, looked at me over the top, and said, "You are a wonderful writer!"

A dream was born. Over the years, other dreams bloomed and died tragic, untimely deaths. I planned to become an Olympic gymnast or win the National Finals Rodeo, but there was this matter of back flips on the balance beam and these parents who stubbornly refused to buy me a pony. Yet the writer dream remained. I always believed I could do it because... well... my first grade teacher told me so, and first grade teachers don't lie.

So, that is my story, and if you are a teacher, or know a teacher, or ever loved a special teacher, I salute you from afar and wish you days be filled with stories worth telling and stories worth reading.

I have to be very honest with you all, I have never read a book by Lisa that I did not LOVE.
The Story Teller was fantastic.
This was by far her best work to date, I could not put the book down! I was so sad to read the last page.
I highly recommend this book. The characters will not soon be forgotten. I very touching story.
I gave this book 5 stars two times!

Spiritual Renewal Study Bible

Experience New Growth and Transformation in Your Spiritual Walk
Are you experiencing a hunger to know God more completely in your life? Do you long for a deeper connection with him? If so, then the NIV Spiritual Renewal Bible—the recipient of the 1999 ECPA Gold Medallion Award—is for you. Using a time-tested process honed over decades of counseling and teaching, Stephen Arterburn employs 7 core principles of spiritual renewal and refreshment, connecting you more closely with God’s Spirit through his Word and helping you to develop the deep, satisfying change you desire in your spiritual life.
Features:
• 66 book introductions focused on the thematic study and spiritual renewal aspects of each Bible book
• Text notes highlight renewal themes as they emerge from the text of the Bible
• Multi-feature character profiles assess how different personalities managed different challenges in their walk with God
• Spiritual keys devotional reading plan: Two cycles (OT and NT) of 49 devotions each lead the reader through 7 keys of spiritual renewal with 7 devotions for each key
• Spiritual disciplines essays that describe the various disciplines of the faith such as prayer, Scripture reading, and others
• Spiritual disciplines profiles: one-page articles that describe how certain characters of the Bible employed the various Spiritual disciplines in their lives.

Pick up your copy here

Over all the Spiritual Renewal study Bible is a nice easy to use study guide. The hard cover gives it a sturdy make for durability. There is a commentary for each verse of the bible. Key people of the bible have a profile page within the chapter that they are introduced and gives a summary of that person. The profile includes negative aspects and positive aspects of that person. This feature is a good add to help someone that has possibly never read a bible or who is a young convert understand about who they are reading about. The index has a spiritual, discipline, devotional profile sections. The key spiritual disciplines can be found throughout the bible but the index breaks down each key and gives the location of each key devotional.
The only negative thing I found was the small font size, especially the commentary. People who have trouble with small print may have trouble reading this Bible.
I gave this Bible 4 stars. I would buy this Bible for a new Christian.
I was given a copy of this Bible by the publisher for my honest review.

I'm a wife, mother, and bona fide Southern belle. Published author, expert corn bread maker, and Squirrel Princess.

I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I've retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I'm from Texas. Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son-a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!

I love homemade tacos, shoes, and romance novels-not necessarily in that order. I'm a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I'm shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.

I believe that God is love. I guess that's why I adore romances.

I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I'm a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that's me June Cleaver with a laptop.

I dislike people trying to convince me to read the Twlight series (I'll get to it or I won't, either way I'm good with it), gratuitous violence, and strawberry ice cream. (I know I'm alone on this last one, and again, I'm good with it.)

Favorite movies-(besides HP) French Kiss, Maid of Honor, A Lot Like Love, Just Married, and Sweet Home Alabama. Oh, and Miss Congeniality, Sabrina (both versions) and a 1940′s movie called Dear Ruth. If you haven't seen it, you should! A-dorable. Anything with Doris Day and most all of Marilyn's and Audrey's.

Amy's latest touches on Forgiveness and faith and you will not be able to put it down.
You are sure to love the protagonist Caroline as much as I did.
Amy has out done her self on this one. Don't miss this first book in Amy's new series.
I have read every book Amy has wrote to date and loved them all but this one by far is my favorite so far.
I can't wait until January 2015 for book two in the series Courting Emily.
I gave this book 5 stars and HIGHLY recommend it.

The Book of Revelation Made Clear By Tim LaHaye

A fun and fascinating way to learn about the book of Revelation.
The Bible’s final book, Revelation, can seem intimidating or downright impossible to comprehend, even for serious students of the Scriptures.
Filled with complex imagery, vivid depictions of violence, and challenging spiritual references, Revelation is often set aside by readers in favor of more straightforward, easier-to-digest biblical material. Yet the capstone of the canon need not remain a mystery.
In this refreshingly accessible book, Bible scholar and best-selling author Tim LaHaye (originator of the Left Behind series) and renowned puzzle master Timothy E. Parker (editor of the USA Today Crossword, and founder of The Universal Crossword, King James Games, and Master Puzzles) demystify Revelation for your benefit.
Absorb this book and discover afresh—or for the first time—the richness of Revelation and its God-breathed, life-changing power to deepen your walk of faith.

Dr. LaHaye holds a D.Min. degree from Western Theological Seminary and the Doctor of Literature degree from Liberty University. He and his wife, Beverly, have been married more than sixty-five years.

This was a fun book to help understand and learn more about the book of Revelation.
I enjoyed everyone of the quizzes in each chapter. The ones I got wrong I will always remember.
Tim Lahaye did such a great job of keeping it down to earth and easy to understand.
I would recommend this book as a great Bible study or small group study.
I gave this book 5 stars and recommend it.
