As a woman in today’s world, you know what it’s like to feel pressure on all sides from clashing cultural expectations. How can you stay true to who God has uniquely created you to be in the face of the script you’ve been given? What’s more, how can you stand your ground with grace?
The classy confidence you know and love—whether it’s on set at Full House or Fuller House, Dancing with the Stars, The View, or Candace’s Hallmark films—is no act. But it hasn’t come easy. In fact, learning to stay true to herself with grace has been one of the biggest fights of Candace’s life.
The secret, she has learned, is kindness: it’s classy, unexpected, even counter-cultural, and ultimately wins the day.
In Kind Is the New Classy, Candace reveals the thought patterns and practices that have empowered her to stay centered in who she is while practicing radical graciousness toward others. Whether you’re navigating major life choices, questions of calling and career, relationships, or personal goals, this book will show you how to:

Candace Cameron Bure first became known to millions as a co-star on the hit ABC television series Full House. Today, like her brother Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains, Fireproof), she is the rare Hollywood actor who is outspoken about her Christian faith and how it helps overcome certain obstacles, like her struggle with food addiction.

Bure's healthy lifestyle has been featured in US Weekly and People magazines as well as national talk shows including The View and NBC's Today. In Reshaping It All, she continues the story, inspiring women to embrace a healthier lifestyle by moving faith to the forefront, making wise choices, and finding their worth in the eyes of God. Candace shares a candid account of her struggle with food and ultimately her healthy outlook on weight despite the toothpick-thin expectations of Hollywood.

Find her website at http://www.candacecameronbure.net

My Thoughts...

Important, relentless, practical, and oh so convicting. Just a few words that I would use to describe this book.
Five books later and Candace can still move me and she writes the things no one else wants to write. And she does it with so much self confidence.
I am so proud of the lady that Candace has become and she is not afraid to share her Christian walk with the world.
The Tips and the Your Turn at the end of each chapter is worth  gold to me. Candace lays it all out there for the reader.
What if all of our girls read this book and changed their hearts and became kind and classy ladies.
This is a life changing read. It is to be shared. When you buy a copy why not buy an extra copy and share it.
5 stars two times and I HIGHLY recommend this life changing book.

The Way of Abundance By Ann Voskamp Giveaway!

What do you do when you wake up and feel like you're not enough for your life? Or when you look out the kitchen window as dusk falls and wonder how do you live when life keeps breaking your heart?
As Ann Voskamp writes, “great grief isn't meant to fit inside your body. It's why your heart breaks.” And each of us holds enough brokenness to overflow—to be given as the greatest story of our lives.
In sixty vulnerably soulful stories, The Way of Abundance moves from self-weary brokenness to Christ-focused givenness. Drawing from the critically acclaimed, New York Times bestseller The Broken Way and Ann's online essays, this devotional dares us to embrace brokenness as a gift that moves us to givenness as a way to draw closer to the heart of God. Christ Himself broke like bread, giving Himself to us so we might have a lifelong communion with Him. Could it be that our brokenness is also a gift to the world?
This gentle but exquisitely profound book does nothing less than take you on an intimate journey of the soul.
As Ann writes, "The wound in His side proves that Jesus is always on the side of the suffering, the wounded, the busted, the broken." Discover how surrendering in unexpected ways is the first step toward receiving what you long for. Discover the good news that your beauty is not in your strength but in your fragility. Discover why your healing shines radiant through your wounds—and how only in brokenness will you ever be whole—and find the way to the abundance you were meant for.

Named by Christianity Today as one of 50 women most shaping culture and the church today, and a partner with Compassion International as a global advocate for needy children, Ann's a regular loser of library books, usually has a sink full of soaking pots, sees empty laundry baskets rarer than a blue moon, and believes that the sky and fresh mercy over the farm is large and all is grace. Her blog, one of the Top 10 Christian blogs on the web, has become a daily well for the weary and soul-thirsty: www.aholyexperience.com.

My Thoughts...

So insightful, inspiring and uplifting. Ann did not disappoint.

Adamant By Lisa Bevere

By ancient definition, the adamant was known as both a diamond and a mythical stone of indestructible wonder. In more modern terminology, it describes a posture of unshakeable resolve and determination. If there was ever a time for us to be adamant about love and truth it is now. God is Love. God is Truth. Both love and truth are timeless, transcending our current trends and opinions. Sometimes the most loving thing we will ever do is to speak the truth, but speaking truth begins with living it.

Using the mediums of Scripture and story, New York Times bestselling author Lisa Bevere takes readers on a journey into the Mountain of God, to the one place they can learn not only to abide in God's unshakeable truth and love, but become adamant--people who are unmovable, determined, and steadfast. With conviction and passion, Lisa unpacks the concept of the adamant for readers, linking together the grand story of Scripture and God's purpose in their lives. Readers will see that God's plan is revealed as we dwell in him, it is there that we are forged and shaped. As we abide in Christ our Cornerstone we are shaped into the image of the adamant.

My Thoughts...

I could not get into this book. The characters were dry and not well put together, never mind that the romance did not take place until almost the end of the story.
The story felt rushed and the authors storytelling was not up to par.
I hate that I did not like this book in the Daughters of the Mayflower series.
I also hate that I had to give this book 2 stars, it was not MY cup of tea. Be on the lookout for my review of the next book in this series, you don't want to miss it.

Sarah E. Ladd has always loved the Regency period — the clothes, the music, the literature and the art. A college trip to England and Scotland confirmed her interest in the time period and gave her idea of what life would’ve looked like in era. It wasn’t until 2010 that Ladd began writing seriously. Shortly after, Ladd released the first book in the Whispers on the Moors series. Book one of the series, The Heiress of Winterwood, was the recipient of the 2011 ACFW Genesis Award for historical romance.

My Thoughts...

Looking for a sweet romance? Swoon worthy romance? Then this is your book.
I enjoyed the whole story I hated that the kids had to work to help the family. But that was part of life back then.
Ladd never disappoints, so you have to grab a copy and see if you like that it told from two points of view. I really thought it was very well written.
I gave this book 4 stars.

Refuge of the Heart By Ruth Logan Herne

District Attorney Mitchell Sanderson lost his family to tragedy. He became a dogged prosecutor with an enviable conviction rate. But when faith, conscience and love of a troubled refugee ripple the smooth waters of his existence, can Mitch risk everything for love? Magdalena Serida fought her way out of a government-quelled uprising in Chechnya. The church-sponsored refugee knows the horrors of war first-hand. Now in America with her five-year-old sister, Lena is uncertain who to trust. Her Christian faith has maintained her through the loss of her family, but when Mitch Sanderson shows interest, Lena longs to take a chance. Should she open herself up to this man of law and order, a man who imprisons women like her? Or slip quietly back into the shadowed fringe of anonymity? Choices slip away when Mitch’s friend spews half-truths about Lena, rumors that cost Mitch his new love and possibly the election. Can he find his way to a faith deep enough to love again, and to offer Lena the refuge of his heart? Reflecting the world’s turbulence and the plight of global refugees, award-winning author Ruth Logan Herne shrinks the vast numbers to the story of one woman… one child… the travesty of war and the grace of peace in this Maggie Award-winning book of faith, hope, love… and freedom. Lena’s story won’t just touch your heart… it will stir your soul.

My Thoughts...

I will be really honest this Author should not be writing Love Inspired Books. She is to good to be writing short stories.
I LOVED this book from beginning to end. You must read Hunter and Rachel's story. You will want to find out if they can be friends or maybe even more than friends.
This is not your predictable love story that everyone is writing. This is a fantastic read. You can read it in an hour and if you are like me you will be left wanting more.

The Characters are so loveable, they are just like family. The romance is fabulous I will say I was left wanting more, I hated to see the story end.
This is a 4.5 star book. I HIGHLY recommend this book as well as the whole series.

Embraced By Lysa Terkeurst

Embraced is the beautiful new devotional from Lysa TerKeurst, the president of Proverbs 31 Ministries and the New York Times bestselling author of Uninvited, The Best Yes, Unglued, and Made to CraveEmbraced features 100 devotions that will resonate with women in all stages of life by giving them a godly perspective on the issues they face each day.
A real embrace indicates an intimate level of closeness. It’s not a high five or a casual handshake. The best kind of embrace is when someone we know deeply loves us flings their arms wide open and pulls us in close.
Our hearts were made for this kind of love and security but for many of us, we know more about the pain of heartbreak and fear than the unconditional love for which we were created. In Embraced, Lysa shares her own struggles, doubts, and heartbreaks while pointing to the Ultimate Embrace: God opening His arms wide on Calvary through Jesus so that He could pull us close for all of eternity. Welcoming us into the safety and hope of His grace and His love.
And because we have been fully embraced by Him, we can spend our lives held securely by Him and trust all of His ways.
Through these 100 devotions, daily scriptures, and prayer prompts, readers will be equipped to:
  • Begin to find freedom from the struggles that have held them hostage by learning new ways to experience God’s love and more authentic ways to trust Him.
  • Surrender their deepest hurts by processing them in a godly way with Lysa, a friend who understands their pain.
  • Hear the Lord speak intimately to their heart by learning how to seek His direction.
  • Release the tension of wondering, If God is near why does He sometimes feel far away? by spending intentional, guided time with Him each day.
With an exquisite cloth cover, highly designed interior, ribbon marker, and stained page edges, Embraced will be a treasured keepsake for you as well as a meaningful gift for those you love.

Lee Tobin McClain read Gone With The Wind in the third grade and has been an incurable romantic ever since. When she not writing emotional Christian romances, she's probably driving around a carload of snarky teen girls, playing with her rescue dog and cat, or teaching aspiring writers in Seton Hill University's MFA program. She is probably not cleaning her house.

You can find Lee online at http://www.leetobinmcclain.com and on Twitter @LeeTobinMcClain. Like her on Facebook or email her at LeeMcClain@comcast.net. She loves to hear from readers!

My Thoughts...

This blogger/reviewer still says that really talented authors should NOT write these what I call novellas. This was the first book that I have read by this author, but it will not be my last.
I did not like Fiona's mom could not get past her black ugly heart but the rest of the characters were loveable and made this book a good one. I read it in one sitting.

Bart Millard is a founding member and lead singer of the multi-platinum selling contemporary Christian band MercyMe. He is married to his childhood sweetheart, Shannon. They reside in Franklin, TN along with their children Sam, Gracie, Charlie, Sophie and Miles.

My Thoughts...

I have always been a fan of MercyMe. I absolutely love their music. I was so excited when I received this book for review. Sometimes we prejudge artist and assume everything in their life now and in the past was rainbows and unicorns. It was amazing to read and learn what Bart endured throughout his life. His faith played a great role in shaping him into who he is now. I was pulled into his story and could not put this book down until I finished it. Millard tells in the beginning he can add more into a book and go into further detail than is allowed in a motion picture. If anyone watches the movie and passes on the book I believe they have done themselves a disservice. This is one of the most inspiring reads I have read in a while.
I gave this book 5 stars.  I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Only By Death By Kathy Herman

Is Liam Berne a loving son—or a murderer? The second book in the Ozark Mountain Trilogy, Only by Death is a thought-provoking suspense story of a man who loses everything and learns he must die to find life.

After much agonizing, Liam Berne takes his mother, who has Alzheimer’s, to the Sure Foot River and drowns her. A mercy killing, he tells himself, to spare her years in a nursing home. And getting his inheritance early isn’t a bad thing either.

Dixie Berne’s body is recovered and the coroner cannot find any sign of foul play, though Liam’s sister isn’t convinced. Then Liam hears rumors that a twelve-year-old boy has witnessed the drowning. Terrified that he will be discovered, Liam sets out to intimidate the boy into silence. Little does Liam know that someone else suspects him—someone who intends to make him pay.

Kathy Herman is no stranger to the Christian publishing industry. Before becoming a bestselling author and award-winning poet, Kathy worked on staff at the Christian Booksellers Association for five years. She gained eleven years of bookstore experience as a children's products specialist and drew on that expertise to conduct related seminars in the U.S. and Canada.

Kathy quickly rose to the rank of bestselling author when her first novel, TESTED BY FIRE, became a CBA bestseller shortly after its release. Since then, eight more of her novels have claimed the title of bestseller: ALL THINGS HIDDEN, THE REAL ENEMY, THE LAST WORD, THE RIGHT CALL,FALSE PRETENSES,DANGEROUS MERCY, RELENTLESS PURSUIT and NOT BY SIGHT.

Her contemporary, fast-paced novels weave inspirational messages into the storyline so effectively that a college professor in Houston utilized her books as required reading to educate students on the value of teaching through fiction. Kathy's books have also been widely used in book club discussion and Bible study groups.

Kathy and her husband Paul live in East Texas and have three grown children, five "nearly perfect" grandchildren, and an adorable cat named Samantha. Her hobbies include photography and bird watching--especially an ongoing fascination with hummingbirds.

My Thoughts...

I can't say enough good things about this book. The characters were very well  developed and the plot was solid.  One thing about this book was that I fell in love with the family. The love for one another in the family was bar none. Jesse had the faith of a young man that I wish our youth today had. I was taken in by the story from the first page. I must say that part of the plot was very thought provoking.
I gave this book 5 stars. I recommend this book as well as book 1 in the Ozark Mountain Trilogy series.

She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor's degree in public relations and now has the privilege of homeschooling by day and wrestling with the keyboard by night. She enjoys sharing God's love through fiction and is exceedingly thankful for her own happily ever after.

My Thoughts...

I was so excited about reading this book. I had never read anything by this author and so as a book lover always looking for a new author. I set out with an open mind. I was enjoying the book until the end.
As an avid reader, the ending was rather abrupt for me.
It took me over the cliff and left me hanging. I did ask the author if there was a book 2 and she said no.
I sadly have to give this book 3 stars.
I will try her again if she writes another book in the future.

The Daniel Key By Anne Graham Lotz

Twenty choices will bring contentment when the world says you aren’t enough, closeness born of relationship with God, boldness to share the truth, and peace in times of trial. These choices were made by Daniel, a young Jewish man serving God in a godless society, revered by God, saved from lions. The Daniel Key will lead you to a life-changing faith.
What are the secrets of a successful, steadfast, and godly faith? Daniel was honored by God, protected, and trusted. His faith did not waver facing those who were against him, serving new kings in power, or even confronting hungry lions. How can you have that kind of faith? Daniel made 20 intentional, key choices in his life. Those choices took him down a path to a close relationship with God and a model for godly living to all around him. Daniel’s choices can be your choices—choices such as:
  • The choice to trust
  • The choice to obey
  • The choice to pray
  • The choice to worship
  • The choice to repent
  • The choice to live humbly
  • The choice to have courage
The 20 choices will bring you contentment when the world says you are not enough, closeness born of a relationship with God, boldness to share the truth, and peace in times of trial. The Daniel Key will lead you to a life-changing faith.

Unafraid By Adam Hamilton

Fear is a complex emotion. Sometimes it saves us. More often it robs us of the life we want. But we can take our lives back. You'd be hard-pressed to overstate the extent to which fear, anxiety, and worry permeate our lives today. Fear wreaks havoc on our relationships and communities. It leads us into making bad decisions. It holds us back from the very pursuits that promise fulfillment and joy.

Making matters worse, not a week goes by when some new threat or calamity isn't dominating the headlines. Why are there so many tragedies? we wonder. What will happen next?

As the senior pastor of a large, diverse church in America's heartland, Adam Hamilton has seen the cost of fear up close. When he surveyed his congregation on how fear affects them, 2,400 people responded--and what they said was eye-opening. Eighty percent admitted to living with moderate or significant levels of fear.
Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times is Reverend Hamilton's insightful and impassioned response.

Drawing on recent research, inspiring real-life examples, and fresh biblical insight, Hamilton shows how to untangle the knots we feel about disappointing others, failure, financial insecurity, loneliness, insignificance, and aging. Then he helps readers understand and counter fears related to such outsize perils as terrorism, death, and the apocalypse.

Writing with generosity and intelligence, Hamilton shows how believer and unbeliever alike can develop sustaining spiritual practices and embrace Jesus's recurring counsel: "Do not be afraid." For anyone struggling with fear or wondering how families and communities can thrive in troubled times, Unafraid offers an informed and inspiring message full of practical solutions.

Adam Hamilton is senior pastor of The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, one of the fastest growing, most highly visible churches in the country. The Church Report named Hamilton's congregation the most influential mainline church in America, and he preached at the National Prayer Service as part of the presidential inauguration festivities in 2013. Hamilton is the best-selling and award-winning author of The Journey, The Way, 24 Hours that Changed the World, Enough, When Christians Get it Wrong, and Seeing Gray in a World of Black and White, all published by Abingdon Press.

This is such a relevant book and filled with biblical insight.
