The Bible study in itself is different. It is not a traditional hold your Bible and study the Scripture. The study did quote the story of the prodigal son, However, it did not give you the book of the Bible they were quoting. The prodigal son story is quoted and briefly explained throughout the five week study. There were other scriptures paraphrased but again no books of the Bible, chapter, or verse was mentioned. The only reason I knew it was Bible scripture is because I knew what they were quoting.
There are testimonials  from different people in each of the five week study . They talk about how they were living before they came to know Christ. There are other stories  where they share about different things that happen to them and God guiding their way. I would call this Bible study more of a testimonials than a study. With that said I believe it would  help someone you are witnessing to guide them to Jesus or a new convert may find this encouraging. The stories told start out with how bad they were living before Christ and many people need to hear God forgives all people from all walks of life no matter how bad you are.
I gave this  Bible study 3 stars for Bible study and 4 stars for testimonies.
I was given a copy of this DVD by the publisher for my honest review.

Lorie's Heart By Amy Lillard

Welcome back to Wells Landing, Oklahoma, the tranquil Amish community where still waters run deep and a brave young woman sets out to discover her faith, her family, and herself… Lorie Kauffman is grief-stricken when her father passes away unexpectedly. But her heartache quickly turns to bewilderment when she discovers he’d been leading two lives—one of simplicity and hard work in Wells Landing, and one fraught with painful ordeals in Tulsa. As she starts digging into her family’s past, Lorie finds herself torn between the Amish world and the Englisch world—and she’s no longer certain where she belongs… Lorie knows that if she leaves Wells Landing, she may never be able to return. But what if her destiny lies in the outside world—the world her father knew so well? Change is never easy, but with a bit of courage and the help of a handsome and kind-hearted Englischer, she just may find the peace, acceptance, and love she’s been longing for…

I'm a wife, mother, and bona fide Southern belle. Published author, expert corn bread maker, and Squirrel Princess.

I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I've retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I'm from Texas. (?) Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son-a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!

I love homemade tacos, nail polish, and romance novels-not necessarily in that order. I'm a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I'm shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.

I believe that God is love. I guess that's why I love to write inspirational romances. The two go hand-in-hand for me.

I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I'm a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that's me June Cleaver with a laptop.

I dislike people trying to convince me to read the Twlight series (I'll get to it or I won't, either way I'm good with it), gratuitous violence, and strawberry ice cream. (I know I'm alone on this last one, and again, I'm good with it.)

Favorite movies-(besides HP) French Kiss, Maid of Honor, A Lot Like Love, Just Married, and Sweet Home Alabama. Oh, and Miss Congeniality, Sabrina (both versions) and a 1940′s movie called Dear Ruth. If you haven't seen it, you should! A-dorable. Anything with Doris Day and most all of Marilyn's and Audrey's.

Author Amy Lillard has done it again.
Book three in the A Wells Landing Romance series is a must read and if you are like me and like Secrets then you are going to love this book. There are SECRETS in this book.
This is a story that takes you back and forth in the English and Amish worlds. I liked that.
I have enjoyed all three of these books and if you are like me and love a good Amish book then you are going to be so happy that you picked up a copy of Lorie's Heart. I even liked how it ended.
This engaging book could very well be read as a stand alone, but why would you want to miss the first two books in this series.
I gave this book 4 stars and recommend it.

Midnight on the Mississippi By Mary Ellis

Midnight on the Mississippi begins the new Secrets of the South Mysteries from bestselling author Mary Ellis. These complex crime dramas follow an investigator's quest to make the world a better place...solving one case at a time.
New Orleans--Hunter Galen, a stock and securities broker, suspects his business partner, James Nowak, may be involved in embezzling their clients' money, but he's reluctant to jeopardize their friendship based on suspicion alone. After James turns up dead, Hunter realizes his unwillingness to confront a problem may have cost James his life.
Nicki Price, a newly minted PI, intends to solve the stockbroker's murder, recover the missing millions from the client accounts, and establish herself in the career she adores. As she ferrets out fraud and deception at Galen Investments, Hunter's fiancee, Ashley Menard, rubs Nicki the wrong way. Nicki doesn't trust the ostentatious woman with an agenda longer than the Mississippi River. Ashley seems to be hiding something, but is Nicki's growing attraction to Hunter--a suspected murderer--her true reason for disliking Ashley?
As they encounter sophisticated shell games, blackmail, and murder, Nicki and Hunter's only option is to turn to God as they search for answers, elude lethal danger, and perhaps discover love along the way.

Mary Ellis has written twelve bestselling novels set in the Amish community and recently completed several historical romances set during the Civil War. The Last Heiress is her latest release. She is currently working on a new mystery series, Secrets of the South, for Harvest House Publishers. Before "retiring" to write full-time, Mary taught school and worked as a sales rep for Hershey Chocolate. Her debut book was nominated for a 2010 Carol Award. Living in Harmony, won the 2012 Lime Award for Excellence in Amish Fiction while Love Comes to Paradise won the 2013 Lime Award.

I was ready for a great suspense book and boy did I get it with Mary's latest. She not only can write Amish fiction but she is an out of this world suspense writer.
Such a twist and a little bit of romance to boot. Not one mystery is solved in this book but two mysteries get solved!
I never put this book down until the very last page I had to know who killed James, and Nicki's daddy. You never saw this coming.
You are going to LOVE this new series if you are a fan of mysteries.
I gave this book 5 stars and I highly recommend this book.

A Promise of Grace By Lynette Sowell

Rochelle Keim has lived in Pinecraft for almost twenty years among her Mennonite brethren and the Amish of Sarasota. Feeling unsettled as she nears her fortieth birthday, she decides to return to nursing school, a dream she gave up long ago during a painful time she dares not remember. Her past decides to make itself present when Silas Fry, Rochelle’s former love, moves to Pinecraft. Silas spent the past two decades working as a missionary pilot, but that all changed with the sudden loss of his wife, Belinda—Rochelle’s childhood best friend. Now both Rochelle and Silas are on a collision course with their past, and the reunited couple must decide if they’re trying to resurrect a dead romance, or if the two very different people whose paths have crossed can make a new life together.

This was by far my favorite of the three books I have read in the Seasons of  Pinecraft series so far.
Rochelle and Silas were so easy to love. I love how the whole story played out.
Some of the past Characters make an appearance in this book and it was good to get to spend time with them again.
I never wanted to see this book end but from what I can tell there will be another book, I need a little bit of closure.
I of course loving this series so much, I gave this book 5 stars. And I recommend this book as well as the whole series.

Visit her website at www.JoannaWeaverBooks.com.

I really enjoyed this Bible study, I did the study with my best friend and I have to say I loved that it was filmed in Israel, It has some great views of the Holy Land.
The author really loves Mary, Marta, and Lazarus, she had a really good time teaching us the study you could see it on her face in each lesson. She made each lesson fun.
Joanna has the scripture in the study guide and it comes across the screen as well but I had my Bible with me and used it as well.
It is not hard to follow along with, the lessons are about 15 minutes and the homework takes about that long as well. It is so worth the 30 minutes it takes for each lesson you really learn a lot in that short time.
Each week there is a verse to memorize and it goes with the next weeks lesson.
There is plenty of room to take notes in the study guide as well.
I gave this Bible study 4 stars and I HIGHLY recommend it, do it in a small group or just with your best friend.

Dancing Through Life By Candace Cameron Bure

If you read just one book this year PLEASE let it be this book!

Candace Cameron Bure has grown up before our eyes and we've watched as she's balanced life in Hollywood with her faith for many years. But that all reached new heights when she was given the opportunity to join the cast of Dancing With the Stars. Being on the show was one of her dreams come true; and with that dream came the opportunity to display her Christian faith in front of millions of people, through an intense season of stretching beyond her limits, and to run the race God gave her with joy and perseverance.

Join Candace as she reflects on the self-discovery that came through leaping out of her comfort zone. Go behind the scenes and experience the highs and lows, the roadblocks, and the personal victories. Hear straight from her heart on tough lessons learned about grace, rejection, perfectionism, disappointment, accountability, dealing with criticism, and more. Through God’s strength, and with the help of endless support from her family and friends, see how Candace stayed true to herself and publicly lived out her faith in Christ all the way to the finale.

How do you stand with conviction in your world? Where does your courage come from when faced with challenges? How do you live out your faith on a daily basis despite opposition? Your stage probably isn't in Hollywood and the challenges you are facing may not be on live television, but they are no less real. Beth K. Vogt is a nonfiction author and editor who said she’d never write fiction. She’s the wife of an air force physician who said she’d never marry a doctor—or anyone in the military. She’s a mom of four who said she’d never have kids. She’s discovered that God’s best often waits behind the doors marked “Never.”

A very heartwarming sweet romance. I have read other books by Vogt an liked them all.
This one keep me up all night I could not put it down. I just had to find out if she was going to find true love after all she had been through.
This is some what of a flashback book and I don't tend to like those much but this one was interwoven in such a way that you can't help but love it.
I loved the ending it was such a great happy ever after. I hated seeing it end though.
I gave this book 4 stars and I recommend it.

Warrior Chicks By Holly Wagner

Some battles we choose; others choose us. There is a lot in life we cannot control--a cancer diagnosis, the choices our children make, a spouse who leaves, disappointments in our career, a broken heart. But in those tragedies, big and small, we still have a choice: lie down and give in or stand up and fight.

In this inspiring call to arms against victimhood and complacency, Holly Wagner challenges women to enlist as Warrior Chicks. She shows women that they are beautiful just the way they are, they are destined to be overcomers in this life, and that the battle is already won for us. She shares the secrets of being equipped to fight the good fight and do more than just survive. As Holly knows from her experience as a warrior chick battling breast cancer, we aren't living in peacetime. We can choose to be a casualty or a warrior. So what's it going to be?

Holly is passionate about seeing women become who God has designed them to become, and to see every generation of woman extend a helping hand to the generation that is younger. Through the women's ministry of Oasis, GodChicks, Holly seeks to blow the lid off the boxes that women have sometimes put themselves in and encourages women to be the amazing, world-changing champions they were made to be.

She has written several books, using her humorous yet challenging style to encourage readers. Her books include: GodChicks, examining with humor and honesty the many facets of being a woman of God, Daily Steps for GodChicks, a 90-day devotional which was written during her treatment of breast cancer, WarriorChicks, which uses Holly's own life experiences to deliver witty, yet poignant principles for facing any crisis life throws at you, GodChicks and The Men They Love, which she wrote with her husband Philip, offers practical help for dating and building a marriage, and her newest devotional, Awakened, which is a daily challenge for all of us to awaken to our purpose.

Holly has a gift that's for sure, this book is written in such a way that you feel like she is sitting right next to you while you are reading it, giving you the best advice a friend can give you to lift you up and encourage you to keep on fighting to good fight.
All of us chicks have been through or know someone who has been through some rough stuff in life, this is the helpful tool you have been looking for.
You should have your Bible with you when you are reading this book. Holly quotes scripture and you want to go to the Bible and read it for your self. She has what the scripture is in the back of the book in the section called Endnotes so you may get a little confused as you are reading the book its self.
Such an encouraging read and if you have a friend going through something right now this is a great book to give them to help lift then up.

A Memoir: Healing Childhood Emotional Wounds

Our childhood emotional wounds mold us into the wounded adults we become. We cannot embrace the present and move into our future if we are living in the past. We can never step into the fullness of our calling if we are controlled by the lies we believed as truth. Life’s events molded him into the wounded adult he became from his childhood emotional wounds. Follow the spiraling path that led to near disaster. Journey with Bruce down a road to healing.

It's for sale on Amazon

Bruce Brodowski was born in 1945 three months after his dad was killed in Germany in WWII. His mother developed cancer in 1950 and when Bruce was ten years old lost her battle with cancer in 1955. His mother's last dying wish was for him to study hard and become a doctor. Without a father around Bruce developed the classical symptoms of an orphan heart. With his mother's death he felt betrayed, unloved, unlovable, unwanted, rejected, abandoned, and just didn't fit in. He was forced to unwittingly live with an aunt, uncle, and cousin by his mother's wishes in her will. He had planned to runaway several times. His teenage years proved to be disastrous encounters in relationships. The harder he tried to be accepted, the worse he failed. College became the educational grounds for looking for love in all the wrong places, chasing women, and becoming an alcoholic. He never achieved the course grades necessary for medical school thus reinforcing his orphan heart failure complex. He also failed in marriage and a career only to succeed in bar room drinking 101. After his divorce in 1980, he spent years in bar rooms, failed relationships, and changing jobs. This resulted in escapades in Florida, Texas, and North Carolina. It wasn't until he received a divine wake up call into healing ministry in 1995 that Bruce's life began to change. Then in 2007 Bruce received healing for his orphan heart. This experience profoundly impressed upon him the importance of the Father's Love and launched him to preach and teach about the Father's embrace.. Now in full time ministry, his mission is to lead people into intimacy with the Fathering heart of God through out the world.

Beware Covers and Titles can be very deceiving.
This is just one blog reviewers opinion
Where to start on this review, I'm just not sure. I hate to write reviews such as this but here goes. This book has very bad grammar issues as it needs to be edited, pages 18, 19, and 20 have the same two paragraphs twice and as you get on in to the book the stories are all over the place. it is very hard to follow along. They way some of the stories are told there is just to much private information and personal information given for my taste.
I did want to share this for all of you who always go out and buy the books that I rave about, this book has bad language through out the book I do not want anyone to be offended or waste money on a book that you can't or won't read. It is not the normal book that I review and rave about.
I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.

As I stated in my review the author gave me this book to read and review and when I was almost done with the book I e-mailed him and asked him to give me a call. Later on in the day he called me and I told him my concerns with the book he stated to me it had been edited and that the "Christain" editor had no trouble with all of the bad language and he also stated that he was having the book reedited  by Amazon to fix some of the very bad grammar issues that this copy I have has.  Just wanted to tell you blog readers he wanted me to pass that on to you all.

Called for Life by Kent and Amber Brantly

Just months after Dr. Kent Brantly arrived in Liberia with his wife, Amber, and their two children, the Ebola virus erupted in West Africa. Kent and his colleagues began to fight one of the most horrifying, incurable diseases on earth, only to see patient after patient die. Then, after six weeks of intense battle to help others survive, Kent woke up one July morning with a fever. Three days later his diagnosis was confirmed: Ebola.   Kent knew his life was at stake. He also knew Amber, family members, and friends were praying desperately. What he didn’t know was that his case would make international headlines as he was evacuated to Atlanta, becoming the first person with Ebola ever treated in the United States. He didn’t know he would be the center of a media firestorm of debate, questions, and fears. And he didn’t know that his faith would inspire people around the world to trust in a faithful God.

He also completed his Family Medicine Residency and Fellowship in Maternal Child Health at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Now serving as the Medical Missions Advisor for Samaritan’s Purse, Dr. Brantly, Amber, and their two children are based in Texas.

This was such an eye opening book. None of us can say what we will do for sure, if we go through something really bad and life changing. Let me tell you this, this couple held it together and NEVER let me say that again NEVER turned their backs on God.
What would you do if you were told you were tested positive for Ebloa? You don't want to miss this story. After helping to care for other sick people Kent contracts the evil Ebola. Read this book and find out the whole story.
This is a very touching story and you are going to fall in love with this couple.

I love life, love my family, love writing Christian fiction--reading, riding my horse and puttering in my garden are all ways I relax. I often have my little 6 lb Chihuahua, Lacey, on my lap when I'm working--there's nothing like a warm ball of love on your lap to act as a stress reliever!

First and foremost I'm a child of God and daughter of the King. I've been involved in women's ministries for years, and serve on staff at our small church. I'm married to a wonderful man, have two grown children, two cats, two dogs, 10 chickens and ride my son-in-law's Arabian mare since my old mare passed in 2013. We live about 9 miles from the nearest town on 11 acres, in a peaceful setting surrounded by trees.

I started writing shortly after I turned 50, and discovered I loved it so much I don't want to stop. I have 11 books out & four more releasing in 2015, a four book set of horse novels for middle-grade girls. I write both women's contemporary fiction, historical romance and horse novels for girls. One of my Western romances, Love Finds You in Sundance, WY, was awarded the Will Rogers Medallion for Western Fiction, and Blowing on Dandelions, book one in the Love Blossoms in Oregon series, made the ECPA best seller list in 2013.

I'm so glad I got to read about Kate's next adventure. These are such cute reads for tweens and there is a message in in book that you want your tweens to learn.
I read the first installment in this series and liked it a lot and this one was just as good. In this installment you get to hear a lot of Kate's brother Pete.
I gave this book 4 stars. I recommend this book to parents and grandparents. Make tonight a family night and read a book together.
