Close to You By Kara Isaac 5 Books to Giveaway!

A disgraced scholar running from her past and an entrepreneur chasing his future find themselves thrown together—and fall in love—on a Tolkien tour of New Zealand.

Allison Shire (yes, like where the Hobbits live) is a disgraced academic who is done with love. Her belief in “happily ever after” ended the day she discovered her husband was still married to a wife she knew nothing about. She finally finds a use for her English degree by guiding tours through the famous sites featured in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. By living life on the road and traveling New Zealand as a luxury tour guide, Allison manages to outrun the pain of her past she can’t face.

Jackson Gregory was on the cusp of making it big. Then suddenly his girlfriend left him—for his biggest business competitor—and took his most guarded commercial secrets with her. To make matters worse, the Iowa farm that has been in his family for generations is facing foreclosure. Determined to save his parents from financial ruin, he’ll do whatever it takes to convince his wealthy great-uncle to invest in his next scheme, which means accompanying him to the bottom of the world to spend three weeks pretending to be a die-hard Lord of the Rings fan, even though he knows nothing about the stories. The one thing that stands between him and his goal is a know-it-all tour guide who can’t stand him and pegged him as a fake the moment he walked off the plane.

When Allison leads the group through the famous sites of the Tolkien movies, she and Jackson start to see each other differently, and as they keep getting thrown together on the tour, they find themselves drawn to each other. Neither expected to fall in love again, but can they find a way beyond their regrets to take a chance on the one thing they’re not looking for?

Her debut romantic comedy, Close To You, is about a disillusioned academic-turned-tour-guide and an entrepreneur who knows nothing about Tolkien who fall in love on a Tolkien themed tour of New Zealand. When she's not working her day job as a public servant, chasing around a ninja preschooler and his feisty toddler sister, she spends her time writing horribly bad first drafts and wishing you could get Double Stuf Oreos in New Zealand. She loves to connect with readers on her website www.karaisaac.com, on Facebook at Kara Isaac - Writer and Twitter @KaraIsaac

Close to You is a well written novel. I could not believe that Close to You is Isaac's debut book. It always excites me when I have a chance to review a fresh new author. Isaac did not disappoint. The story was a fun romance that made me smile as I read. The story shows how a relationship with God should play a significate roll in our life. I love how the relationship with Allie and Jackson started with them disliking one another. I was hoping that they would wind up together before the book ended. This book is an excellent Contemporary Christian Romance. I really enjoyed reading it and I am sure you will also.
I gave this book 4 stars. I recommend this book.

The Longing in Me By Sheila Walsh

Do your desires have you going around in circles? You may be looking for fulfillment in all the wrong places.
You vowed you’d never repeat the same mistakes—yet you find yourself right where you started. What is it that keeps drawing you back into the same old traps? The fact is, your longings are built from the blueprint of your needs: for protection, for love, for God. And those needs aren’t going anywhere.
Sheila speaks candidly about the trials in her life, including the heartache of her first marriage, and intertwines her story with the biblical saga of King David. As both Sheila’s and David’s stories make clear, some cravings are misguided, but they all stem from the same hunger—and they will haunt you until that hunger gets satisfied properly.
If you keep reaching out to the wrong people at the wrong times in your own life, The Longing in Me will help you understand that your cravings are not the problem. It’s where they lead you that makes all the difference.

Sister Dear By Laura McNeill

All Allie Marshall wants is a fresh start.  But when dark secrets refuse to stay buried, will her chance at a new life be shattered forever?
Convicted of a crime she didn’t commit, Allie watched a decade of her life vanish – time that can never be recovered. Now, out on parole, Allie is determined to clear her name, rebuild her life, and reconnect with the daughter she barely knows.
But Allie’s return home shatters the quaint, coastal community of Brunswick, Georgia. Even her own daughter Caroline, now a teenager, bristles at Allie’s claims of innocence. Refusing defeat, a stronger, smarter Allie launches a battle for the truth, digging deeply into the past even if it threatens her parole status, personal safety, and the already-fragile bond with family.

Laura McNeil is a writer, web geek, travel enthusiast, and coffee drinker. In her former life, she was a television news anchor for CBS News affiliates in New York and Alabama. Laura holds a master’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University and is completing a graduate program in interactive technology at the University of Alabama. When she’s not writing and doing homework, she enjoys running, yoga, and spending time at the beach. She lives in Mobile, AL with her family.

This was the first book I have read by this author, I will be reading more.
Sister Dear is a good mystery. McNeill grabbed my attention from the very first page and never let it go. This book has it all secrets, deceit, betrayal, revenge, jealousy and murder. The characters were introduced and well developed. The story is taking place in the present, However, there quite a few flashbacks within the book. When a flashback takes place McNeill has a label in the chapter to let the reader know that it is a flashblack. I was never lost wondering if I was in the present or the past when I was reading. The author did a good  job letting the reader know where they were in the story.
I gave this book 4 stars. Mystery lovers might enjoy this one.

Soldier Love Story on DVD is a very good movie. It is a great movie for any family movie night. If you are looking for a Christian DVD to add to our library this will make a great addition. The movie is a great romance that is good and clean. The relationship between the soldier (Vince) and little boy (Jared) is very heart warming. Jared, however, is my favorite character. Jared does everything in his power to make sure his single mother finds love with Vince. Enough can not be said of how the movie incorporates God and faith into the movie. Soldier Love Story is a touching movie with some tear jerking moments.
I give this movie 5 stars

Gilding The Water is a lovely novel that is wonderful charming romance with a little wit added in. Every time I took a break from reading to do my daily Chores I found myself wandering back to the book to see what would be the next thing to happen. The book was a very good read that at times had me laughing out loud. You can tell that the author did her research before writing the novel. The characters in the book were well rounded and very well developed.

A Flight of Arrows By Lori Benton 4 Book Giveaway!

Hearts are Divided Loyalties Will Be Tested
The Fates of Two Families Hang in the Balance

Twenty years past, in 1757, a young Redcoat, Reginald Aubrey stole a newborn boy—the lighter-skinned of Oneida twins— during the devastating fall of Fort William Henry and raised him as his own.

No one connected to Reginald escaped unscathed from this crime. Not his adopted daughter Anna. Not Stone Thrower, the Native American father determined to get his son back. Not Two Hawks, William’s twin brother separated since birth, living in the shadow of his absence and hoping to build a future with Anna. Nor Lydia, who longs for Reginald to be free from his self-imposed emotional prison and embrace God’s forgiveness— and her love.

Now William, whose identity has been shattered after discovering the truth of his birth, hides in the ranks of an increasingly aggressive British army. The Redcoats prepare to attack frontier New York and the Continentals, aided by Oneida warriors including Two Hawks, rally to defend it. As the Revolutionary War penetrates the Mohawk Valley, two families separated by culture, united by love and faith, must find a way to reclaim the son marching toward them in the ranks of their enemies.

Lori Benton was born and raised east of the Appalachian Mountains, surrounded by early American and family history going back to the 1600s. Her novels transport readers to the 18th century, where she brings to life the Colonial and early Federal periods of American history, creating a melting pot of characters drawn from both sides of a turbulent and shifting frontier, brought together in the bonds of God's transforming grace.

Lori's debut novel, Burning Sky, earned the 2014 Christy Award for First Novel, Historical, and Book of the Year.

Four (4) books fell of the truck and I am giving them away to  four people who leave a comment below and share this review on Facebook , twitter or instagram.

Lori Benton is good at what she does which is writing historical fiction novels. While reading you can feel the amount of research she did before writing the story. The character development carries from the first book. There are events in each character's lives that is life changing. This is a Christian story that has an untold theme of faith and forgiveness with a little bit of clean romance. The book is the second in a series, however, it can be read as a stand alone book.
I give this book 4 stars. If you like historical reads give this one a try.

Lucy was devoted to the program her father started years ago and now she can only watch as it disintegrates before her eyes. The longer she is separated from the passion of her heart, the more the music fades from her life and she wonders if her faith’s song is fading too. She and her husband reside in the DC Metro area. She can be found online at www.danipettrey.com.

Cold shot is the perfect mix of mystery and romance combined in one book. The characters are well rounded but mostly the story is about two main characters Griffen and Finley. The author writes about the characters in such a way you feel invested in them and want to help. Pettery is so good at creating characters that you love.  Finley is my favorite character because is is a strong and independent female character. I love books that have a strong female lead. I think books should have positive characters that a younger person can look up to. The story captured my attention and I had to keep reading and finish the book. It was so good I couldn't wait to read what happened next, but I hated to see the book come to an end. The best part of the book is the message of God's grace. I really enjoyed this book. I think any fan of romance and mystery will love it as well.
I gave this book 4 stars, I recommend it!

Faith filled lessons permeate the book, gently woven from Lisa's experiences. The title story of a gravely injured hummingbird that God dropped into her life demonstrates trust, obedience, the love of the Creator, and finding blessings in brokenness...while pointing to the hand of God around us. “
"Ask the beasts. . . and the birds of the heavens. . .Or speak to the earth. . .and let the fish of the sea declare to you. . .the Lord. . .in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?"” Job 12:7-10

Look at that cover don't you just love it!
This book was a little  hard for me to get into for some reason. Its a series of short very short stories about friends coming to visit, the authors kids and husband. Its allover the place.
The stories were a great way to get to know this Amish lady and her family. She was for the most part an open book with her stories. I loved her kids from the start.
It does have some good recipes in the back of the book the Amish can sure cook!
I gave this book 3.5 stars for the choppy writing but I gave it 4 stars for the effort of the stories that were told.
Marianne is a true Amish mother with a huge heart.

The Atonement By Beverly Lewis

A Must-Have Novel from the #1 Name in Amish Fiction
The mistakes of the past haunt Lucy Flaud, who years ago stopped attending the activities for courting-age young people in her hometown of Bird-in-Hand. Now twenty-five and solidly past the age of Amish courtship, Lucy has given up any hope of marriage, instead focusing her efforts on volunteering in both the Plain and fancy communities of Lancaster County. Yet no matter how hard Lucy strives, she feels uncertain that she'll ever find redemption.

Dale Wyeth has a deep mistrust of modern-day "advances" and the dependency they create. The young Englisher's interest in living off the grid is fueled further when he meets Christian Flaud, Lucy's father. Dale appreciates the self-sufficient ways of the Old Order Amish, and Christian invites him to learn more about them by staying at the family farm.
As Christian and Dale grow closer, developing a father-son rapport, Lucy begins to question what Dale's being there might mean for her. Could God be testing her? Or is it possible that even the most unworthy heart--and two people from very different walks of life--can somehow find a new beginning?

I've had my nose in a book, for as long as I remember. When I was about 9 years old, I started writing my own stories. By sixth grade, I'd hand-written a 66-page semi-autobiographical book titled, "She Shall Have Music."
After I was married and our three children were in middle school, I began submitting articles and short fiction to various magazines.

My first book (Holly's First Love) was published in May 1993, the start of a 14-book series for pre-teen girls. Soon after, my first chapter book was published for 7-10-year-old readers ("Big Bad Beans") which later became part of my 24-book series, The Cul-de-Sac Kids. I wrote another long-running series for girls, titled "SummerHill Secrets," which was set very close to Neffsville, PA, where I grew up--near the heart of Amish country.

But it was the story of my grandmother Ada Buchwalter's shunning by her ultra-strict father and subsequently her old order Mennonite community that nudged me toward writing adult fiction. THE SHUNNING was published in 1997 by Bethany House Publishers, and along with its sequels, has touched a nerve in millions of readers intrigued by the Plain tradition of Lancaster County, PA. The Hallmark Movie Channel will air the movie, "Beverly Lewis's The Confession" on January 19, 2013--the sequel to "The Shunning" movie.

My passion for Amish-related stories continues to keep me up at night, and I'm presently editing the 2nd book (The Bridesmaid) in my new series: "Home to Hickory Hollow," due out September 11, 2012.
When I'm between writing deadlines, I enjoy hiking in the Rocky Mountains with my husband. Cooking from scratch, playing Mozart at the piano, and making family memory albums, as well as traveling to meet my devoted readers during book tours, are some of my very favorite things. I also adore reading biographies and memoirs, as well as classic literature.

I fell in love with this story. Such secrets  and true, real , character's. It was so easy to fall into the book.
I never saw the ending coming. It is not a predictable Amish book.
New fresh story from Lewis. Easy and fun read.
Lucy was running from the Lord and she was trying to make things right by works and her selflessness was so refreshing.
I have to say Lucy was my favorite character.
I gave this book 4 stars and I enjoyed it so much. I recommend it.

This was the most different Amish book I have ever read. That being said I never put the book down until the very last page.
Child Protective Services being called was not what you would have thought was going to put a twist in this story.
That was the hard part of the story. The romance was sweet. The characters are relatable and easy to relate too.

A Man Who Told Us The Truth By Will Davis Jr.

Trying to discover where ultimate truth really begins and ends—if it even exists—can be brutal work. Getting support from someone who has struggled with the same issues is invaluable.
In A Man Who Told Us the Truth, author Will Davis Jr. wrestles with questions of truth and spiritual realities, offering a bridge between spiritually inquisitive people and the person of Jesus Christ.
Written in a language that seekers and the nonreligious will understand, this remarkable book asks the hard questions about faith and invites the reader to give Jesus a fair hearing.
With chapters such has “Let's Talk about Truth,” “The God I Want to Believe (The Truth about God),” and “False Summits (The Truth about Religion),” this powerful tool tackles difficult topics including love, death, heaven, evil, God, and the nature of truth itself.
In the vein of Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis and Letters from a Skeptic by Greg Boyd, this book is for anyone who has ever gazed up into a star-filled sky and wondered what it all means.

This book should not be compared to C.S. Lewis by any means.
I have to be honest, I had trouble getting into this book. The first chapter did not capture my attention. In a way it drug out through the entire chapter. I found that while reading my mind would wander away from the book. There is really good information within the book. It explains how to answer questions that friends may have about our faith. It is more of a in your face type read and I have trouble with that type of writing.
I gave this book 3.5 stars.
