When God Calls us to Dangerous Places By Kate McCord

"Perhaps that’s the greatest reason why He calls us to dangerous places: so that we will know His astonishing, sacrificial, life-restoring love.”
Why God Calls Us to Dangerous Places is about what is lost and what is gained when we follow God at any cost.
Soon after 9/11, Kate McCord left the corporate world and followed God to Afghanistan—sometimes into the reach of death. Alive but not unscathed, she has suffered the loss of many things: comfort, safety, even dear friends and fellow sojourners.
But Kate realizes that those who go are not the only ones who suffer. Those who love those who go also suffer. This book is for them, too.
Weaving together Scripture, her story, and stories of both those who go and those who send, Kate considers why God calls us to dangerous places and what it means for all involved.
It means dependence. It means loss. It means a firmer hold on hope. It can mean death, trauma, and heavy sorrow. But it can also mean joy unimaginable. Through suffering, we come closer to the heart of God.
Written with the weight of glory in the shadow of loss, Why God Calls Us to Dangerous Places will inspire Christians to count the cost—and pay it.

KATE MCCORD worked in Afghanistan for nine years after the fall of the Taliban. During her years in country, she worked as a humanitarian aid worker, delivering projects to benefit the people of Afghanistan. She also learned the local language and developed deep and lasting friendships with local Afghans. After evacuating from her home in Afghanistan, Ms. McCord transitioned into a mentoring, training, consulting and coaching role to other workers serving in the region. Prior to moving to Afghanistan, Ms. McCord worked in the international corporate community as a business process and strategy consultant.Currently, she serves Christ through writing, speaking, mentoring, and conducting workshops and seminars. She is the author of In the Land of Blue Burqas and Farewell Four Waters, both published by Moody Publishers.

This book immediately caught my attention. This isn't your traditional spiritual book. You don't get a list of why God calls us to dangerous places that you would expect. McCord teaches throughout the book by sharing her experiences when she was in Afghanistan. It is a well written and thought out book. Many of us don't even think twice when our local church pushes giving to over seas missions. The book will kindle many things in you. If it doesn't give you a longing to serve God in a deeper and richer way, it will kindle a need to support people who put there own lives on the line to further the Gospel of Christ. I really enjoyed the book from cover to cover. She asks five questions at the end of each chapter that will provoke thought as you search for the answer.
I give this book 4 stars. I highly recommend reading this book.

After spending some time with John and helping plan a Christmas wedding for a mystery couple, Hope begins to wonder if she really wants a divorce . . . or a real wedding of her own.
A Brush with Love by Rachel Hauck
Revealing the beauty in other women might be Ginger Winters’s specialty—but it will take an unexpected kind of love to help Ginger see the beauty in herself.
Ginger Winters will be the “beauty-maker” for the Alabama society wedding of the decade. But when high-school crush Tom Wells shows up looking for a haircut, Ginger’s thinly veiled insecurities threaten to keep her from love once again . . . despite Tom’s best efforts.
Serving Up a Sweetheart by Cheryl Wyatt

Award-winning author Cindy Kirk started writing after taking a class at a local community college. But her interest in the written word started years earlier when she was in her teens.
Cindy confides, "From the time I was a little girl, I thought everyone made up different endings to books, movies and television shows. Instead of counting sheep to go to sleep at night, I made up stories. Only later did I discover not everyone does this.
I wrote my first book when I was fourteen. It was what would now be considered a young adult romance novel. It was about a girl who was attracted to an older boy (I think he was eighteen) who didn't know she was alive. I made the mistake of letting a teacher read it. Though she said it was good, I could tell by her expression she didn't like it. I threw the pages away and, although I wrote in my diary at sixteen 'I don't know what I'd do if I can't be a writer,' it would be years before I'd attempt to write another novel."
Unlike some writers, Cindy wasn't interested in shorter works of fiction. Once she began writing again, she jumped feet first into book length fiction. She loves reading and writing romance because she believes in the power of love and in happily ever after. An incurable romantic, Cindy loves seeing her characters grow and learn from their mistakes and, in the process, achieve a happy ending.
With over forty published novels under her belt, Cindy has written everything from inspirational romance (romance with a faith element) for Harlequin's Love Inspired and Harper Collins Christian publishing, sexy contemporaries for Harper Collins and books for Harlequin's Special Edition line which fall somewhere in between. She's now writing a series set in Door County for Montlake Romance.
These stories, which take place in the fictional community of Good Hope, Wisconsin, are a perfect fit for someone who enjoys writing emotionally satisfying stories about real people in the context of home and family.
Cindy hopes that once you read her books you'll be able to tell she is an eternal optimist, one who truly believes in the power of love. She invites you to kick off your shoes, pick up one of her books and get to know her.
She and her high school sweetheart husband live on an acreage in Nebraska with their two dogs.

WoW! All three of these novellas were fabulous. They don't link together but they were so good. I never put the book down.
This a five star book two times and one that book lovers should not miss. This book is so full of feel good emotions you can't put it down.
My favorite character was from Serving up a Sweet Heart the last novella in the book by Cheryl Wyatt. I of course love to cook and Meadow is a cater and the kitchen needs some help after the ceiling caves in so the contractor that helps her out was a mean guy in high school but after the Lord gets a hold of him he is a dream come true for most women. You are going to love this one I'm sure.
This would make the reader in your life very happy, Put under their Christmas tree.

A Reason to Stay By Kellie Coates Gilbert

As the host of her own television news show, Faith Marin works to expose the truth for her viewers. But in her personal life, she's anchored her world with firm boundaries in order to hide a family history she'd like to forget. Her pro bass fisherman husband Geary's life is an open book, and unfortunately his busybody family doesn't know the meaning of boundaries. Deception and crippling differences soon derail their tender relationship, leading Faith to believe her only option is to end the marriage. But while Faith considers whether divorce is the only answer to their issues, tragedy strikes and her heartrending decision is interrupted. With her life in the balance, Faith finds that the one she has been shutting out may be the very one she cannot bear to lose.
Kellie Coates Gilbert takes readers on an emotional roller coaster as she weaves themes of unexpected trial, self-discovery, and forgiveness in this profoundly honest portrait of the tensions that can break a marriage--and the ultimate healing power of love.

As a former legal professional, Kellie Coates Gilbert spent nearly twenty-five years working in courtrooms and behind the scenes of some of the largest and most well-known cases in America. She was one of the lead paralegals in the Jack-in-the-Box litigation, where uncooked hamburger resulted in the deaths of several toddlers and made many more critically ill, which is now the subplot of her recently released WHERE RIVERS PART, the second novel in a collection of contemporary women's fiction stories all set in Texas. Her books not only explore the heart issues that matter most to women, but often allow readers an inside peek into her former legal world.

Kellie currently makes her home in Dallas, Texas with her husband and a very spoiled 2.7 lb. Yorkie named Emmie Sweetpea.

Please visit her online at www.kelliecoatesgilbert.com

I gave this book 4 stars, I recommend this book as well as the other books in the Texas Gold series. They are all really stand alone books ,they are all set in Texas.
A Reason to Stay was a book that I thought was not full of perfect characters that made me like it even more. Geary was such a mommies boy and he was all about his family even after he got married to Faith.
Faith was an independent working women so this made the story worth reading in my opinion.
The story was mainly about Faith coming to grips with her past.  I loved the whole premise.

Born in Rome, she grew up in Los Angeles, where she now lives with her daughter, Jade.

I must say first that this cookbook by Giada is phenomenal. She did an awesome job putting it together. The book is packed with delicious meals, sides, snacks, and desserts. The pictures of each dish are mouth watering. She tells you if the recipes are vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. It  is also packed with helpful tips. There are a great deal of good things that other cookbooks leave out. For example she tells you what things you should stock up on in your pantry. I cooked two of the recipes for my family.
The first one was called Skinny Chicken Parm. The dish wasn't hard to make and the ingredients were already in my pantry. Everyone loved it at dinner time and I thought that they were going riot for more when they wanted seconds.
Giada also thought of our four legged family member when she added Peanut Butter Dog Bone Treats. My little four legged babies loves the treats at the gourmet Stores. Now, I don't have to pay for the expensive treats now that I know how to make them at home.
The second recipe I used was Citrus Lavender Hand Scrub. It smells so good and is good when used to exfoliate. I will use this cookbook years to come.
I give this book 5 stars two times. I was given this book by the publisher for my honest review.

An Endless Christmas By Cynthia Ruchti 2 Book Giveaway!

Christmas takes a very different turn when the guests of honor break up instead
of announcing their engagement. Trapped with his family, they learn that love
looks different than either imagined.
Both in their eighties, Dodie and Wilson Binder celebrate every Christmas as if it
were their last. This year, their grandson Micah is planning to ask his girlfriend,
Katie, to marry him so they can celebrate with the whole family. But things go very
wrong when she says, “no.” Now they are stuck. Too many people, too much snow,
and too little room should be a recipe for disaster. But sometimes too much is just
enough. Especially when it’s Christmas.

                                                 A MUST READ!!!
I read this book in just a couple of hours and I loved every page.
I was so worried about Micah and Katie but it was all good in the end.
Wish I could spend a Christmas with this family, they were the perfect family we all wish we had.
Just wanted to jump in the pages of this book and never leave.
I gave this book 5 stars but because it was way to short for me and I loved it so much from page one, I wish that is was longer. Based on how short is was. I was left wanting MORE. Cynthia needs to write an Endless book, she is so very talented.

Murder at the Courthouse By A.H. Gabhart

After a few years as a police officer in Chicago, Michael Keane has no trouble relaxing into the far less stressful job of deputy sheriff in his small hometown. After all, nothing ever happens in Hidden Springs, Kentucky. Nothing, that is, until a dead body is discovered on the courthouse steps. Everyone in town is a little uneasy. Still, no one is terribly worried--after all the man was a stranger--until one of their own is murdered right on Main Street.

As Michael works to solve the case it seems that every nosy resident in town has a theory. When the sheriff insists Michael check out one of these harebrained theories, his surprising discovery sends him on a bewildering search for a mysterious killer that has him questioning everything he has ever believed about life in Hidden Springs.

Bringing with her a knack for creating settings you want to visit and an uncanny ability to bring characters to life, A. H. Gabhart pens a whodunit that will keep readers guessing.

Ann and her husband still live on a farm near that same little town in Kentucky. Learn more at www.annhgabhart.com.

I have read all of Ann Gabhart's books. I think “Murder At The Courthouse” is the best out of them all. You will fall in love with Michael the main character. You are going to want to climb inside the book and help Michael solve the case. I loved every minute of reading this book. Ann did such a good job writing each page. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who did it. The author keeps you guessing and when you think you have figured it out, you find out you didn't. She adds humor from some of the characters and character interactions that doesn't take away from the story but makes each character seem so real. She even added a little romance to boot. I can't wait to read the next one in the series. I gave this book 5 stars two times. I highly recommend this book. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for my honest review.

This should be a hallmark movie, it is just that good.
I was so happy at the ending, I really hated seeing it come to an end.

Drawing upon her experiences in Jamesport, the largest Old Order Amish community west of the Mississippi, longtime Missourian Charlotte Hubbard writes of simpler times and a faith-based lifestyle in her new Seasons of the Heart series. Like her heroine, Miriam Lantz, Charlotte considers it her personal mission to feed people—to share hearth and home. Faith and family, farming and food preservation are hallmarks of her lifestyle, and the foundation of her earlier Angels of Mercy series. She’s a deacon, a dedicated church musician and choir member, and when she’s not writing, she loves to try new recipes, crochet, and sew. Charlotte now lives in Minnesota with her husband and their border collie.

My long awaited copy of The Christmas Cradle book number six in the Seasons of the Heart finally arrived. I read it as soon as I got it. I was so excited. I have loved every book in this series.
The whole series is so heart warming and exciting to read.
I LOVED the characters so much, I really loved the unexpected ending. This being the last book in this series makes me so sad. But fear not there is a new series coming our way next March.
Hubbard is such a loving writer she always writes so you can feel love coming from each page.
The recipes at the end of the book and there are many of them 10 to be exact all look so good I can't wait to try them out on my friends.
I gave this book 5 stars and I highly recommend it. This book is a keeper for my personal book shelf.
