Called for Life by Kent and Amber Brantly

Just months after Dr. Kent Brantly arrived in Liberia with his wife, Amber, and their two children, the Ebola virus erupted in West Africa. Kent and his colleagues began to fight one of the most horrifying, incurable diseases on earth, only to see patient after patient die. Then, after six weeks of intense battle to help others survive, Kent woke up one July morning with a fever. Three days later his diagnosis was confirmed: Ebola.   Kent knew his life was at stake. He also knew Amber, family members, and friends were praying desperately. What he didn’t know was that his case would make international headlines as he was evacuated to Atlanta, becoming the first person with Ebola ever treated in the United States. He didn’t know he would be the center of a media firestorm of debate, questions, and fears. And he didn’t know that his faith would inspire people around the world to trust in a faithful God.

Dr. Kent Brantly, accompanied by his wife Amber and family, served as medical missionaries in Monrovia, Liberia, with World Medical Mission, the medical arm of Samaritan’s Purse. Both Kent (BA in Biblical Text) and Amber (BS in Nursing) are graduates of Abilene Christian University.  Dr. Brantly received his Medical Degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He also completed his Family Medicine Residency and Fellowship in Maternal Child Health at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. After contracting the Ebola virus in summer 2014, Dr. Brantly was evacuated to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where he recovered and was later reunited with his family. Now serving as the Medical Missions Advisor for Samaritan’s Purse, Dr. Brantly, Amber, and their two children are based in Texas.

This was such an eye opening book. None of us can say what we will do for sure, if we go through something really bad and life changing. Let me tell you this, this couple held it together and NEVER let me say that again NEVER turned their backs on God.
What would you do if you were told you were tested positive for Ebloa? You don't want to miss this story. After helping to care for other sick people Kent contracts the evil Ebola. Read this book and find out the whole story.
This is a very touching story and you are going to fall in love with this couple.
I gave this book 4 stars, and I recommend this book.
I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for my honest review.
