The 13th Day of Christmas By Jason Wright Giveaway

Marva Ferguson has a very personal Christmas tradition that happens every December 26. As an aging widow, the tradition means more to her now than it ever has. Her newest neighbor, nine-year-old Charlee, loves Christmas too. But her family has fallen on hard times and things get worse when Charlee becomes critically ill. Then, on December 12, Charlee makes a wonderful discovery. A mysterious note is delivered that promises twelve days of gifts and stories that will reveal the truth behind the beloved Christmas carol The Twelve Days of Christmas. As the days go by, the gifts hint at a possible lost lyric. Was there once a 13th day of Christmas? And if so, could its magic change or save a life? If Marva knows something about the letters from the Elves, she s not telling. However, you don t live as long as Marva Ferguson and not have a secret or two including a whole lot of faith in your apron pocket. Filled with laughter, tenderness, and hope, The 13th Day of Christmas invites us to see how an old Christmas favorite can turn into a true Christmas miracle.

  5. I haven't read anything by this author. The 13th Day of Christmas sounds like it will be a real page turner. Thank you Mary for your review, however, it did sadden me to read that you have lost your family to cancer. Cancer is an ugly word, I know, I have struggled with it myself.

John, my husband and I over the past several Christmas's have watched people in restaurants who seem to be working only to keep food on the table or to buy gifts for their children, etc. We then give them a card with money in it and we ask them to give God the thanks and not us. We tell them a little about Jesus in each card. I remember this one older waitress fight back tears over the card and money we gave her. We listen and wait for God to direct us to the person He wants to Bless through us. It is never about us but about Him.

    Blessings!

  7. What a great story. You will be surprised what a gift for a child at chrismas will do. I gave gifts to a struggling family last year and all the little boy wanted was drawing paper and modeling clay. When it was delivered he said it was the best gift ever. This sounds like a very heartwarming story.

  9. What a wonderful thing to do for a child. It takes so little to make them happy. Wish we could all do more for those around us at Christmas time who has so much less then we do!

  10. It sounds like a wonderful book, Mary! My life has been touched by cancer also, my mother died from it, my brother has had 3 different types, and I've had some precancerous skin lesions.
One thing that I decided to do a few years ago is to give less in the way of gifts to family and friends, and put that money toward warm hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, warm socks, long underwear, etc. to homeless shelters and an elementary school where the majority of children come from families below the poverty level. I receive more joy knowing that I'm helping a handful of people who need those items, than buying more than I need to for my children who all have the necessities in life. I'm an advocate for helping the needy in my own community.

  12. I have loved reading these comments. When my first daughter was just 1 her name was drawn twice from a Montgomery Ward contest, so gave most of to a sister whose kids had even less than mine, Was happy that I could do that. Now for a number of years our church sponsors gifts for many children in the area around our church who can't afford gifts for the kids. My Sunday School always buys for one family. And, several of us ladies took gifts to shut-ins of our church. But, I would and should do more. I'd love to win this book. Maxie ( mac262@me.com )

  17. What a wonderful story this sounds like. When hubby had his health and we were able to, we volunteered at mission for the holidays. It was so rewarding! We are hoping that the time will come when he will be able to do more. For now we do the shoebox for the children.

  18. Sounds like a great read. We always do a Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child box (or 3). Some years we have bought gifts for children who would otherwise not have any or food for families... just really depends on what's going on around us and what we feel led by God to do.
