Unquenchable By Carol Kent GIVEAWAY!

Where is your faith today---first sparks of faith, bright blue flames, radiating heat, raging bonfire, red-hot coals, cooling embers, cold grey ashes? Is your love for God burning so brightly that you are consumed by its passion? Are those who surround you drawn to its radiance and warmed by its heat? Are sparks flying from you, spreading a wildfire faith that ignites passion in others? Or has your passion cooled, your light dimmed, or your fire been quenched? Throughout history God has chosen fire to represent his awesome power, his judgment and wrath, his protection, and his Shekinah glory: the flaming sword guarding Eden, the burning bush, the pillar of fire, the fiery furnace, the chariot of fire, the burning coal, the flame upon the altar, the lake of fire, and the flaming eyes of the Son of Man upon the throne---these are only a few of the images he has seared into our minds that we might know him more fully. God is the source of that first flicker that sparked your faith and one day you will stand in his holy presence, look into the flaming eyes of Jesus, and see his burning love for you face to face. But between that first flicker and that heavenly meeting, there is life to be lived on this earth. The challenge we all face is that life can dim our fire or even quench it, whether by the soggy mist of the mundane, or the quenching downpour of crisis. Carol Kent has discovered that God's Word is filled with the secrets of nurturing his fire in our lives, sometimes painfully so, other times even undetected, refining, purifying, cauterizing, healing, and ultimately reshaping us into the image of his Son. Author and speaker Carol Kent will take you into God's word, and into your own story, to reveal the true power of the fire God has placed in you, to fan the flames of your faith, stir your passion, and embolden you to spark wildfires that will spread to forever change the landscape of this world beyond your wildest imagination. God's fire is in your life. Fan the flames. Burn brightly. Start a wildfire!

The result is a funny and thought-provoking playbook for contemporary families, with more than 200 useful strategies, including: the right way to have family dinner, what your mother never told you about sex (but should have), and why you should always have two women present in difficult conversations…

BRUCE FEILER is one of America's most popular voices on family, faith, and survival. He writes the "This Life" column about contemporary families for the Sunday New York Times and is the author of five consecutive New York Times bestsellers, including WALKING THE BIBLE and THE COUNCIL OF DADS. He is the writer/presenter of the PBS series "Walking the Bible" and the forthcoming "Sacred Journeys with Bruce Feiler." His latest book, THE SECRETS OF HAPPY FAMILIES, is a bold playbook for families today. It collects best practices for modern-day parents from some of the country's most creative minds, including tops designers in Silicon Valley, elite peace negotiators, the creators of Modern Family and the Green Berets.

His most recent bestseller, THE COUNCIL OF DADS, is the international sensation that describes how faced with one of life's greatest challenges, he asked six friends to form a support group for his young daughters. The book was profiled in PEOPLE Magazine, USA Today, Time, and the Washington Post, and was the subject of a one-hour documentary on CNN hosted by Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Bruce was named "Father of the Year" by the National Fatherhood Initiative.

Since 2001, Bruce has been one of the country's preeminent thinkers, writers, and speakers about the role of religion in contemporary life. WALKING THE BIBLE describes his perilous, 10,000-mile journey retracing the Five Books of Moses through the desert. The book was hailed as an "instant classic" by the Washington Post and "thoughtful, informed, and perceptive" by The New York Times. It spent more than a year and a half on the New York Times bestseller list, has been translated into fifteen languages, and is the subject of a children's book, a photography book, and a miniseries on PBS.

ABRAHAM recounts his personal search for the shared ancestor of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. "Exquisitely written," wrote the Boston Globe, "100 percent engaging." The book was featured on the cover of TIME Magazine, debuted in the top 5 of the New York Times bestseller list, and inspired thousands of grassroots interfaith discussions around the world.

WHERE GOD WAS BORN describes his year-long trek visiting biblical sites through the front lines of Israel, Iraq, and Iran. "Bruce Feiler is a real-life Indiana Jones," wrote the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. AMERICA'S PROPHET is the groundbreaking story of the influence of Moses on American history. Both were Top 10 bestsellers.

Bruce Feiler has written for numerous publications, including The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and Gourmet, where he won three James Beard Awards. He is also a frequent contributor to NPR, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and Fox News. A former circus clown, he has been the subject of Jay Leno joke and a JEOPARDY! question, and his face appears on a postage stamp in the Grenadines.

A native of Savannah, Georgia, Bruce lives in Brooklyn with wife, Linda Rottenberg, and their identical twin daughters.

I am sad to say but this book is not one that I would recommend.
You can not give advice to people if you are not a professional and if you are going to write a book about something then you need to consult professionals.
Author Bruce Feiler tells that he does not want to do that.
I am not going to accept a map from someone that has never been where I want to go.
With that being said here is one thing that the author wrote in his book that made no sense to me
that teenage sexual behavior is "largely unchanged over the last sixty years" . What? Yes you read that right, the whole book is full of crazy comments like this one. What rock has this author been living under?
For the most part this book is inaccurate with very few useful tips.
I gave this book 2.5 stars.

Prime of Life By P.D. Bekendam GIVEAWAY!

Is a simple life too much to ask for?
Ben thinks the retirement home where he works should be called “Heaven Can Wait a Little Longer While I Golf” instead of Heritage Gardens. But who asked him? He’s just the janitor, after all. Of course, his inept boss, the cantankerous residents, and even his attractive podiatrist friend don’t know one important thing about him: he was recently a cardiothoracic surgeon, not a broom-pushing custodian.
Ben is in search of a stress-free life with a little freedom from the past thrown in. But will it be that simple to escape who he used to be—and all he used to fear?

An inspiring, quirky story from an award-winning author, Prime of Life reminds us that new life can find us in the most unexpected places.

I was very disappointed with this book.
I thought about Rain man when I was reading it. Ben the main character was fascinated with Prime numbers. Which became way to much for me. That is all he talked about.
It is a Christian book which you all know by now is all I read and review, so I do not want to read books with curse words in them and this one has some.
The story was just to boring for me. The attention to detail was no where to be found in the book.
I am so sad to say that this is not a book that I recommend at all.
I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for my honest review.

A Promise Kept By Robin Lee Hatcher

God was going to save her marriage, Allison was sure of it. But neither her husband nor her marriage had been saved.
What had become of His promise?
Tony Kavanagh had been Allison’s dream-come-true. They were in love within days, engaged within weeks, married and pregnant within a year. Her cup bubbled over with joy . . . but years later, that joy had been extinguished by unexpected trials.
The day Allison issued her husband an ultimatum, she thought it might save him. She never expected he would actually leave. She was certain God had promised to heal; it was clear that she'd misunderstood.
Now, living in the quiet mountain cabin she inherited from her single, self-reliant Great Aunt Emma, Allison must come to terms with her grief and figure out how to adapt to small town life. But when she finds a wedding dress and a collection of journals in Emma’s attic, a portrait of her aunt emerges that takes Allison completely by surprise: a portrait of a heartbroken woman surprisingly like herself.
As Allison reads the incredible story of Emma’s life in the 1920s and 1930s, she is forced to ask a difficult question: Does she really surrender every piece of her life to the Lord?
Drawing from her own heart-wrenching story of redemption, A Promise Kept is Robin Lee Hatcher’s emotionally charged thanksgiving to a God who answers prayers—in His own time and His own ways.

I don't normally enjoy books that jump from one time period to anther time period but this book was really good. Each chapter was a different time period from Aunt Emma and Allison but I really enjoyed the present chapters which were Allison's story.
I am sure that you will love how the story ends. I was so happy!
It also touches on a drinking problem and the author shows us how with God anything is possible.
I gave this book 4 stars and I recommend it.

The Way of the Master By Ray Comfort

This is the one book that you MUST read this year!

The Way of the Master gives light to an almost forgotten biblical key that has the power to unlock the door of the human heart. This is the proven and effective way of making the gospel make sense to the unsaved. It is so rooted in the Scriptures, once you see it, you will forever wonder how you could have missed it. It is the biblical principle of bypassing the intellect (the place of argument) and speaking directly to the conscience (the place of the knowledge of right and wrong) – the way Jesus did.

It’s anecdotal, loaded with commentary and remarks that are more conversational than academic. It’s an easy read with a hard message that has already changed the face of sharing faith.

You must pick up your copy here

Ray Comfort is the best-selling author of more than 70 books, including, "Hitler, God and the Bible" (the book that sparked the award-winning movie "180"), "You Can Lead an Atheist to Evidence But You Can't Make Him Think", "Nothing Created Everything" and, "The Evidence Bible." He also co-hosts a TV program with actor Kirk Cameron, which airs in 123 countries.

WoW! This is a MUST read.
If you love the Lord and don't want to see your friends and family or the girl down at the grocery store checking you out, or the waitress that waits on you when you go out to eat, go to hell then you need to read this book.
Some of us just don't know how to witness to people, that is fear and that is the devil.
This book gives you the easy way, the biblical way you witness to everyone that you come in contact with everyday.
I can't even imagine what they world would be like if every time everyone walked out their door they witnessed to the people they came in contact with, even strangers.
I will tell you once you read this book it WILL change your life. I am so on fire for the Lord after reading it that I am going to make a vow to witness every time I walk out my door.
It is a very easy read and you can check out all of the Bible verses with your Bible.
I gave this book 5 stars two times and I HIGHLY recommend it.
I bought this book after being told about it by Kirk Cameron's sister Candace Cameron Bure it changed her life as well.

The Calling By Suzanne Woods Fisher

Twenty-year-old Bethany Schrock is restless. Her love life has derailed, her faith hangs by a thread, and she is spending the incredibly hot summer days wading through a lifetime's accumulation of junk at the home of five ancient Amish sisters. About the only thing that holds her interest is the spirited and dangerously handsome Jimmy Fisher--and he seems bent on irritating her to no end.

When the sly old sisters and a guest at the Inn get Bethany involved in running the local soup kitchen and starting a community garden, she suddenly finds herself wondering, Shootfire! How did that happen? Despite her newfound purposefulness, a gnawing emptiness about a childhood mystery continues to plague her. Encouraged by Jimmy Fisher, she will seek out the answers she craves--and uncover a shocking secret that will break her heart, heal it, and point her to love.

Bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher delivers her trademark twists, turns, and tender romance in this delightful and exciting visit to the deceptively quiet community of Stoney Ridge.

In no particular order, Suzanne Woods Fisher is a wife, mother, writer, lifelong student of the Bible, raiser of puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind, a gardener and a cook...the latter two with sporadic results.

Suzanne has loved to write since she was a young teen. After college, she started to write for magazines and became a contributing editor for Christian Parenting Today magazine. Her family moved to Hong Kong for four years, just as the internet was developing, and she continued to write articles in a 44-story high-rise apartment, sending manuscripts 7,000 miles away with a click of a key.

After returning from Hong Kong, Suzanne decided to give her first novel a try. For four and a half months, she worked on an antediluvian computer in a cramped laundry room. She didn't even tell her husband what she was up to. When the novel was completed, she told her family at dinner one night that she had written a book. "That's why there's no food in this house!" said her slightly insensitive sons.

Undaunted...Suzanne found a small royalty publisher for that book and wrote three more (all earned multiple awards). With help from an agent, she went on to sign contracts with Revell Books for twenty plus books.

Writing, for Suzanne, is a way to express a love of God and His word. With every book or article, she hopes readers get a sense of what faith really looks like in the daily grind. She hopes they realize that life can be hard, but God is good, and never to confuse the two.

Suzanne can be found on-line at: www.suzannewoodsfisher.com

This is a very different Amish book. It touched  on a hard topic, how the Amish deal with mental illness. It is a light hearted book, very easy read.
You will be so sad when you turn the last page. I can't wait for the next book in the Inn at Eagle Hill series.
I loved the characters and the story-line was great.
I gave this book 5 stars and I highly recommend this book.

Beyond the Shadow of the Brownstone By Valerie Lawrence GIVEAWAY!

VM Lawrence uses the mastery of literary structure to introduce each of her characters
as they transition from the “Old World” culture to their newly adopted Country and bring with them the love of family and the need of education.  The skill which she uses brings the reader visual details of the actions and characters as they come alive is brilliant.

This fictional novel touches on the third rail of politics, “Abortion” and is handled with such delicate and sensitive construction that one is not aware of the suspense that is building with the struggles and conflict generated by this adventure.  BROWNSTONE pulses with life and death, sorrow and joy.  We hold on for dear life traversing through the wild turbulence of trials, tragedies and triumphs.

Knowing that Children are the spiritual and corporal legacy, the family is fractured when abortion becomes a very real issue. The psychological impact presents thought provoking ideas that are intended to impact the reader.  Brownstone focuses on the inner story which drives the plot in an attempt to elicit the emotional involvement of the reader.

The reader emerges through the storm weathered and worn, but with the realization that life is precious, fleeting and fragile; and, with the knowledge that a life full of joy, hope and peace is possible, only after forgiveness. VM Lawrence reminds us that those living in depths of despair, or struggling with family problems, can find solace by offering them the wisdom that a broken, bitter and battered heart can be transformed through forgiveness, faith and trust, into a heart filled with unconditional acceptance and unending love.

Born in Buffalo, New York, September 17, 1945: Died March 23, 2013.

The genesis of this oeuvre, "Beyond the Shadow of the Brownstone," started with Valerie's great-grandmother, Paula Uharek a member of the Hungarian Royal family. At fifteen years old she crossed the Atlantic in steerage to start her new life in America as a maid. Six years later she would meet and marry Josef, a cabinet maker who apprenticed in Hungary as a coffin maker. Thus the foundation of "Beyond the Shadow of the Brownstone" was in place.

Having a difficult childhood because of a dysfunctional family, Valerie turned to education as the saving instrument of survival. Soon after high school Valerie married and had three children while continuing her studies.

After the collapse of her marriage her desire for knowledge demanded she doubled her efforts to excel. "If you can't control the wind, adjust the sail" was her guiding principle for excellence. After graduating from Duquesne University magna cum laude in science she entered the University of Pittsburgh where she received her doctoral degree in psychology.

Continuing her studies in Europe and the Orient she researched the addictive behaviors of the afflicted and applied her knowledge to her work in private and educational institutions. That work prompted her publishing her first book, "Addictive Lies", a survivor's guide to addiction.

A certified graduate of the Epiphany Association in Pittsburgh and a long standing member of her church she volunteered many hours to the Lambs Supper, Faith Formation Group, Appalachian Missions, Religious counselor and Good Neighbor Coordinator.

In addition, Valerie was an avid fitness advocate and spent more than two years reaching the goal of Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Her concept of a healthy body required good food, exercise, an active mind and prayers.

Her challenges in life included many projects that would take her to uncharted territory and offer the joy and happiness of life to those that joined her in that journey. She was married for just six months when a tragic accident took Valerie's life. While we mourn her death on earth we celebrate her lasting work in "Beyond the Shadow of the Brownstone."

Valerie's biography was written by her devoted husband, Philip Buettgen, who is champion of her work.

This was a really well written book, very interesting to say the least.
It hits on some very hard topics, and it is sure to get peak your interests.
This is new author to me I am sure to read more books by Valerie in the future.
I gave this book 4 stars.

Balancing It All By Candace Cameron Bure

How do you do it all?”
That’s the question that wife, mom, actress, and best-selling author Candace Cameron Bure is often asked. And it’s a question that women everywhere are asking themselves as we seek to balance all of our roles, responsibilities, and opportunities.

So, how do we do it? Working since the age of 5, Candace has been in a balancing act for nearly her entire life. She is the first to tell you that there is no miracle formula for perfect execution in every area of your life, but there definitely are some lessons to be learned, lessons that come to life in Candace's story.

Come along and dig into Candace’s story from her start in commercials, the balance-necessitating years on Full House, to adding on the roles of wife and mom while also returning to Hollywood. Insightful, funny, and poignant, Candace’s story will help you balance it all.

Candace Cameron Bure first became known to millions as a co-star on the hit ABC television series Full House. Today, like her brother Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains, Fireproof), she is the rare Hollywood actor who is outspoken about her Christian faith and how it helps overcome certain obstacles, like her struggle with food addiction.
Bure's healthy lifestyle has been featured in US Weekly and People magazines as well as national talk shows including The View and NBC's Today. In Reshaping It All, she continues the story, inspiring women to embrace a healthier lifestyle by moving faith to the forefront, making wise choices, and finding their worth in the eyes of God. Candace shares a candid account of her struggle with food and ultimately her healthy outlook on weight despite the toothpick-thin expectations of Hollywood.

I don't even know how to write a review for this book. It was fantastic and I will reread it again.
Candace has it all together and her spiritual life is one to be very proud of. She is the type of person that you want for a mentor for your daughter.
Candace's first priority is her faith and her walk with God. This book is a fantastic reminder that that is how it should be. You can be wife, mother, sister and friend and still put God first, Candace tells you how she does that every day. She lets you know that she is not perfect but she gives it her all. She gives you great verses in the Bible to read and keep in mind each day, in this book as well.
I think that this book is a book all women and young ladies should get a copy of and start reading today.
I for one will always have a copy of this book on my book shelf.
I gave this book 5 stars two times.
I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Emma Burcelli has suffered over a decade of dating disasters. But she concludes that love is officially dead when her grandfather Poppi suddenly passes, leaving her grandmother Nona devastated. As Emma and Lane share time and memories of Poppi, she reconsiders the notion that romance is alive.

Melody Carlson has written around 200 books for teens, women and children. That's a lot of books, but mostly she considers herself a "storyteller." Her books range from serious issues like schizophrenia (Finding Alice) to lighter topics like house-flipping (A Mile in My Flip-Flops) but most of the inspiration behind her fiction comes right out of real life. Her young adult novels (Diary of a Teenage Girl, TrueColors etc.) appeal to teenage girls around the world. Her annual Christmas novellas become more popular each year. She's won a number of awards (including the Rita and Gold Medallion) and some of her books have been optioned for film/TV. Carlson has two grown sons and makes her home in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and yellow Lab dog. To find out more about Melody Carlson, visit her website at http://www.melodycarlson.com.

Huckleberry Hill By Jennifer Beckstrand Giveaway!

With their thirteen children grown, Anna and Felty Helmuth are ready for their next adventure — trying their hands at matchmaking. Huckleberry Hill just might turn out to be the most romantic spot in Wisconsin. Moses Zimmerman knew his grandparents couldn't resist trying to find him a wife. But he never expected it would be a woman tall enough to look him in the eye, and honest enough to make him question a promise holding him to his past.

I grew up with a steady diet of William Shakespeare and Jane Austen. After all that literary immersion, I naturally decided to get a degree in mathematics, which came in handy when one of my six children needed help with homework. After my fourth daughter was born, I started writing. By juggling diaper changes, soccer games, music lessons, laundry, and two more children, I finished my first manuscript--a Western--in just under fourteen years. I now write Inspirational Amish Romance. My goal is to write uplifting, inspiring stories with happy endings and hopeful messages. If my books make readers want to give themselves a big hug or jump up and down for joy, I've done my job. I am a member of Romance Writers of America and American Christian Fiction Writers and am represented by Mary Sue Seymour of The Seymour Agency.
There are three Amish romances in the Forever After in Apple Lake Series (Summerside/Guideposts). Kate's Song, Rebecca's Rose, and Miriam's Quilt are all now available. Kate's Song was the #1 Romantic Religious Fiction download in the Free Kindle Store in August of 2012, and Rebecca's Rose and Miriam's Quilt both spent time in the top 50 Religious Fiction books on Amazon.com.
I have six Amish Romances in the works with Kensington Books. The first book, Huckleberry Hill, will be released on January 7, 2014. Huckleberry Hill is set in Wisconsin on a little hill in Amish country.
The series, The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill, is about an elderly Amish couple who try to find suitable mates for their grandchildren. What could be more fun than throwing two young people together to see if sparks ignite? No one would ever suspect two octogenarian Amish folks of mischief.
Romantic Times gave Huckleberry Hill 4 1/2 stars, calling it "A sweet romance with a lot of heart that offers a new, refreshing take on the...matchmaking trope. The storyline is feasible, the characters are well written, with both their strengths and weaknesses on display. Readers will treasure this series and put the first outing on their keeper shelf."
I have four daughters, two sons, three sons-in-law, and two adorable grandsons. I live in the foothills of the Wasatch Front with my husband and one son still left at home.
You can find me on the web at www.jenniferbeckstrand.com or on my Facebook page at Jennifer Beckstrand Fans.

Jennifer has done it again she has written a book to capture your attention from the very first page to the last page.
I could not put this book down once I opened it and started reading it.
I  can not wait to read book two in the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series. Huckleberry  Summer sounds just as great as this book.
If you have not read any of Jennifer's books yet, this one is so worth your time and money, you are going to really enjoy it!
I highly recommend this book.
I gave this book 5 stars.

Songs of the Shenandoah By Michael K. Reynolds

At the onset of the Civil War, Seamus heeds his wife’s wishes to return to her beloved family farm in the South, where he takes a post as chaplain for General Stonewall Jackson’s brigade. As Seamus ministers to the troops, his sister Clare ministers in a different way—by being a powerful voice in the Northern cause toward freeing the slaves. All this while their youngest brother Davin, who became wealthy during the Gold Rush, struggles to find love and identity in a fallen world. It’s a clash of loyalties and beliefs that threaten the entire family, each of them trying to hear God’s encouragement in the midst of the tragedy of war. The dramatic conclusion to the acclaimed Heirs of Ireland Series.
